Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with vintage watches lately, especially those classic Cartier designs. I finally decided to take the plunge and snagged a “Cartier Retro Watch.” Here’s how the whole thing went down.
First, I spent like, a week, just scouring the internet. Looking at pictures, reading forum posts, basically becoming a mini-expert on vintage Cartiers. I wanted to know what to look for, what to avoid, and what a fair price would be. It’s kinda overwhelming at first, there are so many different models and variations!
The Hunt Begins
I started by checking out some online marketplaces. I quickly realized that going in blind wasn’t going to cut it. There were so many options, and it was hard to tell what was legit and what was, well, not so legit.
- I narrowed my search to a few specific models that I really liked the look of. This helped me focus a bit.
- I spent a lot of time comparing pictures and descriptions, trying to spot any red flags.
- I got a little bit frustrated, to be honest. It felt like I was never going to find “the one.”
Getting Serious
Then I did read some advice, So I should look at auction, So.I decided to get a bit more serious. I started looking at some reputable auction houses, the big names. The prices were definitely higher, but it felt a lot safer.
I actually found a couple of watches that I really liked! The bidding process was a little nerve-wracking, but I set a budget for myself and stuck to it. I didn’t want to get caught up in the excitement and overspend.
Success!
And guess what? I won one! I was so stoked! It was a beautiful Cartier Tank from the 1970s, in really good condition. It took a while to get delivered and get it to my hand, and I opened the box and put it on my wrist, I knew I’d made the right choice.
It’s not just a watch, it’s like a little piece of history. And I wear it all the time now, even though I’m a little bit paranoid about scratching it. Now I am thinking about next target, Ha!
