Buying a 280 SL Roadster? Heres What to Expect

by Afra Jennings

So, I was thinking about getting a 280 SL Roadster. You know, just cruising around, feeling the wind, that whole deal.

First things first, I started digging around online, just to get a feel for what’s out there. I hit up a bunch of different websites. I found this one site called 2BA, kind of like a big database for cars and stuff, and they’ve been around since 2004, so they seem legit.

Then I checked out this other site called Roadster. It seemed like they work with a bunch of different dealerships. I spent a good chunk of time just clicking around, looking at pictures, you know, the usual window shopping.

But here’s the thing, I wasn’t super impressed with their prices. Like, they had this “predetermined price” thing for some of the cars, but for the one I was eyeing, it didn’t feel like a great deal.

I also remembered seeing something about buying a motorcycle online. I googled that, trying to find some advice, but most of the stuff I found was just basic guides, nothing too helpful.

  • Then there’s this whole online car buying thing.
  • One site I stumbled upon claims you can do everything from home.
  • Sounds convenient, but I was a bit skeptical.

Anyway, I ended up spending a whole afternoon just browsing. Kind of like when you go to Newegg to buy a laptop, and you end up just looking at all the options without actually buying anything.

I got distracted by a TP-Link TL-MR3020, which is a pocket-sized wireless 3G router. It has nothing to do with a 280 SL, but it looked interesting.

So yeah, I haven’t made any decisions yet. It’s a big purchase, and I want to make sure I’m doing it right. Plus, the whole online thing, it’s kind of new to me. But hey, it’s been a fun journey so far, just exploring my options.

Still, I keep dreaming about that 280 SL.

Maybe one day. I’ll probably keep browsing for a while. And read up more.
