Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Audrey Hepburn gal and Paris. You know, that pretty lady from the pictures. Never met her myself, but my niece showed me some magazines once. Said she was a big deal.
So, this Audrey, she loved Paris, that’s what they say. Paris, France, you know, the place with the tall tower. Heard it’s real fancy over there. Audrey, she went there a whole bunch, for movies and stuff. Funny Face and Charade, I think they were called. Never seen ’em myself, too busy with the chickens and the garden, but my niece, she watches all that stuff.
They got this book about Audrey and Paris, pictures and all. Lots and lots of pictures, showin’ her all over the city. Must’ve been a real important place for her. Like how my porch is important to me, you know? That’s where I sit and shell peas. Guess Paris was Audrey’s pea-shellin’ porch, in a manner of speakin’.
They say she wasn’t even from France, this Audrey. But she sure acted like she belonged there. Made a real mark, like a good rain on dry dirt. Elegant, they called her. Don’t know much about elegant, but I reckon it means lookin’ nice and actin’ proper. Unlike me after a day in the fields!
And this book, it talks about all the places she liked in Paris. Hotels and such. One fancy hotel called the Hotel Raphael, sounds real highfalutin, eh? She stayed there all the time, they said. Became her home away from home. I guess if you got the money, you can have a home wherever you want. Me? My home’s right here, where it’s always been.

My niece showed me some pictures. Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe, they were called. Pretty gals, sure, but Audrey, she was different. Set a whole new trend, they say. Like when I started wearin’ overalls to church, everyone thought I was crazy, but then half the town started doin’ it.
And get this, Audrey, she said somethin’ about Paris. Said, “Paris is always a good idea.” Well, ain’t that somethin’? I guess for her it was. Me? I think a good cup of coffee and a warm biscuit is always a good idea, but to each their own, I say. Paris is always a good idea, she said. Must’ve been a real special place for her, if she was sayin’ things like that.
This book about Audrey and Paris, it’s got all sorts of pictures. Film stills, they call ’em. Pictures from behind the scenes, when they’re makin’ the movie. And just regular pictures of her walkin’ around, lookin’ at stuff. Like a tourist, but a real fancy one. I bet she didn’t have to worry about packin’ sandwiches and findin’ a clean bathroom, like I do when I go to the county fair.
And there’s this fella, Audrey’s son, Luca Dotti. He helped with the book, they say. Gave a special look into his mama’s life and her love for Paris. Family’s important, you know. Even if your mama’s a famous movie star.
So, yeah, Audrey Hepburn and Paris. A real love story, I guess. Like me and my old rocking chair. Been together for years, seen a lot of sunrises and sunsets. Audrey and Paris, they had their thing, and I got mine. That’s just the way life is, ain’t it?
This book about Audrey and Paris seems real popular. People still care about this lady and that city. Must be somethin’ special about ’em both. Me, I’m just happy with my chickens and my garden. But it’s nice to hear about other folks and their adventures, even if it’s just from pictures and stories.
