Dirty Ultraboost? Make Ultraboost White Again! (Simple Cleaning Hacks That Actually Work)

by Griffith Maggie

So, I have these UltraBoosts, right? They used to be sparkling white, but now they’re, uh, not so much. More like a sad, dingy gray. I wore them everywhere, from running errands to, well, actual running. They’ve seen things, let’s just say. Mud, coffee spills, you name it. But I love these shoes, and I wasn’t ready to give up on them just yet.

I started by taking out the laces. They were pretty grimy too, so I set those aside to deal with later. Then I grabbed a brush, just a regular one I had lying around, and went to town on the shoes, brushing off all the loose dirt and whatever else was stuck on there. I was a little worried it wouldn’t work, but I decided to try some cleaning methods that might work.

Next, I mixed up some mild detergent with water. Nothing fancy, just the regular stuff I use for laundry. I dipped a soft brush into the soapy water and started scrubbing the shoes. I paid extra attention to the really stained areas, scrubbing gently but firmly. I didn’t want to damage the fabric, but I also wanted those stains gone. I was a little worried that maybe bleach was necessary, but I pushed on.

After scrubbing for a while, I rinsed the shoes with cold water, making sure to get rid of all the soap. I was starting to see a difference already, which was encouraging. I decided to go one step further and use the OxiClean. I just poured it all over the shoe, inside and out. After that, I just chucked them in the washer, along with the laces.

  • First, I took out the laces.
  • Then, I brushed off the loose dirt.
  • Next, I mixed detergent and water, and scrubbed the shoes.
  • Then I used OxiClean and put everything in the washer.
  • Finally, I rinsed them and let them air dry.

Once the cycle was done, I took the shoes out and let them air dry. I made sure not to put them near any direct heat, like a radiator or in direct sunlight, because I heard that can damage the shoes. It took a while, but eventually, they were dry.

The Result

And guess what? They were white again! Not perfectly brand new, mind you, but a whole lot better than they were. There are still a few faint marks on the Boost foam, but I’ve heard that a magic eraser can work wonders on that. I’ll probably give that a try later. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. It’s like my favorite shoes got a second life. It took a bit of work, but it was definitely worth it. Now I can rock my UltraBoosts again without feeling like I’m walking around in dirty, old shoes. Success!
