Big trees, mountains high as the sky, all that stuff. My grandson, he’s got one of these shirts. He went to one of them parks, I forget which one, but he brought me back a postcard. It was pretty.

These Reyn Spooner National Parks shirts, they ain’t cheap, but they last. Like my old shoes. Been wearin’ them for years. My grandson, he says these shirts is what them folks in Hawaii wear. He says they call ’em “Aloha shirts.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? He says, “Grandma, these Reyn Spooner shirts are the best!”

  • They got all kinds of pictures on these shirts.
  • Mountains, and rivers, and them big ol’ bears.
  • My grandson saw a bear once. Scared him half to death!
  • He says these shirts are special, like a souvenir from them places.

Now, I ain’t never been to one of these national parks myself. Too old to be travelin’ like that. But I seen ’em on the TV. They look real nice. Lots of green, and blue, and them big rocks. My grandson, he says he wants to take me to one someday. I told him, “Boy, you better hurry up before I’m too old to walk!” He just laughed.

He says these Reyn Spooner National Parks shirts, they’re like wearin’ a picture. Like them picture postcards you send in the mail. Only you wear it on your back. Kinda neat, I guess. He wears his Reyn Spooner National Parks shirt all the time. Even when he ain’t goin’ nowhere special. He says it makes him feel good, reminds him of them trips he takes. I guess that’s nice. I got my old quilt. Keeps me warm, and reminds me of my mama. She made it, you know. From scraps of old clothes.

  • I told him to be careful with his, then!

These Reyn Spooner National Parks shirts, they’re more than just shirts. They’re like stories, he says. Stories about them places, them national parks. Stories about the animals, and the trees, and the mountains. I guess that’s why people like ’em so much. They’re like little pieces of them places you can wear.

Now, I don’t know much about this “Reyn Spooner” fella. But he sure makes some nice shirts. My grandson says he’s been makin’ ’em for a long time. Since way back when. Longer than I been alive, I reckon. I don’t buy many clothes anymore, but I do like looking at these shirts.

Maybe one day I’ll get me one of these Reyn Spooner National Parks shirts. Maybe one with a picture of a big ol’ mountain on it. Or maybe one with a river. Or maybe one with them pretty flowers they got in Hawaii. My grandson says they got flowers on some of them, too. He knows I like flowers.
