My First Try at Being Unique
So yesterday I thought, my designs look like everybody else’s crap. Saw this “Super Easy Ways to Be Unique” thing online and figured why not. Started by digging through my closet like a raccoon. Found my grandma’s ugly flower tablecloth from 1982. Took iPhone pics of the weirdest patterns.

Mixing Things Up
Opened my design app feeling kinda stupid. Slapped the tablecloth photo right behind some boring client logo I was working on. Looked like puke at first if I’m honest. Then I remembered tip #3: “Mess with the colors”. Dropped the saturation like it was hot, added this neon green outline nobody asked for. Suddenly the client’s insurance logo looked like it belonged in a punk rock magazine.
- Stole textures from my microwave
- Used comic sans just to piss off design snobs
- Made everything off-center on purpose
What Happened Next
Posted the disaster on my portfolio thinking nobody would hire me again. Woke up to 3 client emails saying “THIS is what we wanted!” One dude even said “Make it uglier!” Now I’m getting coffee stains on purpose and photographing moldy bread for textures. Turns out looking different just means grabbing shit around your house and breaking design rules like they owe you money.
