So, I’d heard about this place, The Apartment by The Line, down in Soho. Sounded interesting, this idea of a shop set up exactly like someone’s home, where you could supposedly buy anything you saw. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided I had to check it out myself one afternoon.

Finding it wasn’t too hard, tucked away on Greene Street. It wasn’t flashy from the outside, felt more discreet, which kind of added to the whole ‘apartment’ idea, I guess. I buzzed to get in, which felt a bit like visiting a friend, not going into a store.

Stepping inside was definitely a shift. It immediately felt different from a regular shop. Quieter, calmer. It genuinely looked like a very stylish, lived-in apartment. Sunlight was coming in, hitting the furniture just right. It wasn’t packed with stuff; everything felt intentionally placed.

I started just wandering through, moving from the ‘living room’ area towards the ‘dining’ space. There was this great sofa, some interesting art on the walls, books on shelves. It really did trick your mind for a second. I picked up a ceramic bowl, felt the texture. It’s a weird feeling, knowing everything – the bowl, the table it’s on, the lamp nearby – has a price tag, even if it’s not obvious.

Then I moved towards the back, where they had the ‘bedroom’ and ‘bathroom’ areas set up. Saw some really nice cashmere throws on the bed, some fancy skincare products arranged by the sink. And the ‘closet’ section was just like a walk-in wardrobe, full of clothes hanging neatly. It wasn’t like browsing racks in a department store; it felt more personal, seeing clothes in that context.

I spent a fair bit of time just looking, touching fabrics, noticing the little details. The staff were around, but they weren’t pushy salespeople; they were more like hosts, letting you explore. I didn’t buy anything – honestly, most things looked pretty high-end – but that wasn’t really the point of my visit.

Leaving felt like stepping out of a little bubble. It was definitely an experience. More than just shopping, it was about seeing how items could live together in a space. It made me think about how things are presented and sold. Pretty clever concept, really. Glad I went to see what it was all about.
