Man, I kept noticing people complain about Reddit being super liberal everywhere. Like every damn thread turned political. So I decided to dig into why that is. Grabbed my laptop around 10 PM, made some coffee, and dove in.

First thing I did? Sort r/all by controversial. Immediately saw posts about Trump getting downvoted to hell while Bernie stuff had awards stacked like pancakes. Weird pattern but maybe just coincidence.
Then I spent hours comparing subreddits. Checked out conservative subs versus big defaults like r/politics. Crazy difference! r/conservative has maybe 10 active comments per post. r/politics? Thousands. Like comparing a campfire to a bonfire.
Here’s what clicked:
- The voting system murders unpopular opinions. Saw a moderate comment at +5 disappear overnight while raging takes shot up.
- Mod teams control narratives hard. Got banned from two subs just for asking sources in neutral language. Power tripping much?
- Young crowd dominates. Posted polls asking age ranges – 70% under 35. Explains why socialist ideas trend.
Most shocking part? When I made test accounts. Conservative account got instant downvotes even sharing neutral stats. Liberal account saying wild stuff got upvoted if it attacked right targets. Platform rewards outrage culture for sure.
Finished around 3 AM feeling grumpy. Truth is Reddit isn’t left-leaning – it’s outrage-leaning. Algorithm feeds us dopamine hits for dunking on “bad guys”. We’re all just hamsters in their rage wheel. Maybe I should touch grass tomorrow.
