Today, I messed around with something new – color combinations. I’ve been seeing “teal and gray” all over the place, so I wanted to give it a shot myself.
Getting Started
First, I needed some inspiration. So, I just started to collect some pictures I liked that had teal and gray. I found stuff all over, nothing fancy.
Playing Around
Then, it was time to actually try things out. I opened up my favorite simple design tool.
- First Attempt: I threw a teal background on a rectangle and then put some gray text on top. It was…okay. Kinda boring, to be honest.
- Second Attempt: I flipped it! Gray background, teal text. Still not loving it. It felt a little too dark and gloomy.
- Third Attempt: Okay, this is where it got a little better. I used a lighter gray for the background, like a soft, almost-white gray. And then I used the teal for some bigger elements, like a heading or a button. That looked way better!
Tweaking and Refining
I played around with different shades of teal and gray. Some were more blue-ish, some were more green-ish. For the gray, I tried everything from almost-black to super light. I just kept adjusting until it felt right.
I also realized that adding a little bit of white made a huge difference. It helped to brighten things up and keep it from feeling too heavy. A thin white border, or some white space around the elements, really helped.
Final Result
Finally, I had something I was pretty happy with. It’s a simple design, mostly light gray, with teal used for the important stuff like headings and calls to action. Adding white elements gives a fresh look. I think it looks pretty clean and modern, not too flashy, but definitely not boring either.
It was a fun little experiment! I definitely learned that even a simple color combination can take some playing around to get * is important to make more tests and try more.
