So I got this weird idea after staring at my math homework – what if I make a perfume that smells like pi? Not like pie, but the number pi. That infinite number that goes on forever. Yeah, sounds nuts right? But I thought maybe I can capture that kinda endless feeling in a smell.

Started digging through my perfume-making box. Found my usual stuff: some cheap vodka for mixing, those tiny bottles of essential oils, and blank perfume bottles I got online. Laid everything out on my sticky kitchen table. Messy as always.
First problem: How do you even smell a number? Thought about using scents that feel mysterious and infinite. Picked out:
- Patchouli oil – earthy and kinda psychedelic
- Bergamot – sharp but not too sweet
- Vetiver – smells like wet dirt after rain
- Frankincense – smells like old churches to me
Mixed up my first batch like: vodka base first, then dropped in 3.14 drops of patchouli. Get it? Pi numbers? Added 15 drops bergamot (next digits), then 92 drops vetiver. Yeah that last one was overkill – smacked me in the face with mud smell. Room stank like a swamp for hours.
Tried again next morning. Cut all amounts in half. Mixed vodka with frankincense first since it’s lighter. Used pi decimals again but smarter: tiny dropper for single drops this time. Shook it so hard my arm hurt. Made four different versions and labeled them PI-TEST 1 through 4.
Tested them after three days (supposed to let perfumes sit). Test 1 smelled like lemon toilet cleaner. Test 2 felt flat as water. Test 3? Total mud bomb again. Almost gave up when I smelled Test 4 – that hint of church incense floating over dark wet soil. Didn’t smell like pie. Didn’t smell like numbers either. But something felt endless in there.

Ended up calling it close enough. Bottled Test 4 in a lil brown glass bottle. Been wearing it when I do math problems now. Makes me feel like those pi digits – going nowhere but still kinda interesting.
