Whats the Real Elm Street House Address? Find It Here!

by Meredith Sassoon

Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through this little experiment I did. It all started with me trying to figure out the actual address of the house from “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” You know, just for kicks.

First thing I did was, obviously, hit up Google. Typed in “elm street house address” and started digging. I saw a bunch of stuff, like movie trivia, behind-the-scenes facts, but nothing concrete. A lot of websites mentioned that the house is a real place and is in Los Angeles, California. That’s a good start, but I needed more.

Then, I hopped over to some movie location websites. These are usually goldmines for finding where films were shot. I scrolled through a couple of pages that listed filming locations for “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Finally, I found it! The official address.

The address of the house used for the exterior shots is 1428 N Genesee Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046. Bam! Got it.

Of course, just having the address isn’t enough, right? I had to confirm it. So, I went to Google Maps and plugged in the address. There it was! The actual house. I zoomed in, checked out the street view, and compared it to some scenes from the movie. Yup, definitely the same house.

Next up, a deep dive into real estate records. I was curious about the history of the property, who owns it, how much it’s worth, that kind of stuff. Public records searches are your friend here. I used a website where I could search property information using the address and found all sorts of details, including past owners and property values.

Now, I wouldn’t go knocking on the door or anything – gotta respect the current owners’ privacy. But it was pretty cool to see the actual house from a classic horror film.

Finally, to wrap it all up, I saved all my findings in a document. The address, screenshots from Google Maps, the property information I dug up… just a little record of my movie-location sleuthing. Maybe I’ll use it for a future Halloween party or something. Who knows?

So yeah, that’s how I tracked down the Elm Street house address. A little bit of Googling, some movie location websites, a dash of Google Maps, and a pinch of public records research. Pretty easy, and kinda fun!
