Alright so today I got this weird itch when scrolling through pics online. Saw a photo of that trendy IG celeb wearing these killer boots – you know the ones, kinda chunky but sleek? Anyhow, thought “Man, those would slap with my jeans.” Started digging.
The Wild Goose Chase
Step one was obvious: reverse image search. Snapped a screenshot of her boots, cropped it tight, dumped it into three different sites. Got absolute garbage results. Like, garden boots and rain boots? No shot.
Moved to step two: hunting fan pages. Scrolled through six Kardashian fan accounts on IG, checked every tagged brand in her outfit posts from last month. Mostly saw bag sponsors and lip gloss collabs. Zero boot leads. Even checked shoe brand tags she usually wears – nada.
Almost There… Not
Then it hit me – maybe check paparazzi shots from that coffee run she did two weeks back? Found the pics. Boots looked identical! Zoomed in like a maniac on the soles and heel details. Spotted a tiny silver logo on the back. Blurry as heck though. Saved the pic, maxed the brightness + contrast.
- Logo guess #1: Looked like a crooked “G”
- Logo guess #2: Maybe a fancy “D”? Nope.
- Logo guess #3: Turned the damn phone upside down – coulda sworn it was Balmain. Cross-checked their site. Close, but buckle placement was off.
The Sad Reality Check
Got desperate. Drove 40 minutes to that bougie department store downtown. Showed the blurry logo pic to three different salespeople. One laughed and said “Honey, that’s probably $2000 custom.” Another shrugged: “Looks like last season’s Saint Laurent knockoff.”
Ended up doing this:
- Bought $60 black Chelsea boots from the discount rack
- Grabbed a tube of glossy black shoe paint
- Scuffed the hell outta the soles with sandpaper
- Drew a fake silver logo with metallic marker (looks like a toddler did it)
Saw her new post today. Boots actually had gold buckles. Whole week wasted. Moral of the story? Never chase hype shoes when you’re broke and bad at crafts. Shoulda just bought crocs.
