What are common problems with the 2010 nissan nismo? Learn about the issues owners often talk about.

Okay, here’s my take on a blog post about working on a 2010 Nissan NISMO, written in a casual, experience-driven style.

Getting My Hands Dirty with a 2010 Nissan NISMO

Alright, so I finally got my chance to wrench on something a bit more interesting than my daily driver. A buddy of mine picked up a 2010 Nissan NISMO, and it needed some love. He knows I’m always down to tinker, so he asked if I’d give it a look-see. Of course, I said yes!

First things first, we got it up on the ramps. The plan was to tackle a few things: oil change, check the brakes, and just generally give it a good once-over. You know, the kind of stuff you should probably do when you buy a used car.

The Oil Change: A Classic Start

  • Popped the hood and located the oil filter. Standard stuff, but always good to double-check.
  • Got the drain pan in place and cracked the drain plug loose. Let that black gold flow out. Gotta love that smell (or hate it, depending on your disposition!).
  • While that was draining, I prepped the new oil filter. Dab of fresh oil on the gasket – you know the drill. Screwed it on hand-tight, then a little more with the wrench.
  • Tightened the drain plug back up (not too tight!), and then it was time for the good stuff: fresh oil. Used the recommended weight, checked the dipstick, and topped it off. Easy peasy.

Brake Inspection: Time to Get Serious

Now for the brakes. This is where things got a little more interesting. I mean, it’s a NISMO, so you expect a bit more.

  • Pulled the wheels off one by one. Always a good idea to have the car properly secured on jack stands. Safety first, people!
  • Inspected the pads. They looked okay, but definitely had some wear. My buddy said he wasn’t planning on tracking the car anytime soon, so we decided to leave them for now, but definitely something to keep an eye on.
  • Checked the rotors. They seemed straight, no major grooves or anything. Good sign.
  • The brake lines looked solid, no cracking or leaks. Another win.
  • The only thing that bothered me was that some of the calipers looked a little rusty. I hit them with some brake cleaner and a wire brush, but they could probably use a rebuild down the line.

The “While We’re At It” Check

You know how it is. You start with one thing, and then you’re like, “Hey, let’s just check this too.”

  • We peeked at the air filter. Definitely needed replacing. Ordered a new one online.
  • Checked the fluid levels: coolant, brake fluid, power steering. Topped off what needed it.
  • Gave the engine bay a quick once-over, looking for any obvious leaks or problems. Didn’t see anything major.

The Wrap-Up

All in all, it was a pretty straightforward afternoon. The NISMO seemed to be in decent shape, especially considering its age. The oil change and brake inspection were pretty routine, but it’s always good to know what you’re dealing with. I told my buddy to keep an eye on those brakes and maybe think about a caliper rebuild in the future. But for now, he’s good to go. Plus, I got to hang out in the garage and tinker – can’t complain about that!
