Okay, so I’d been hearing all this buzz about Sol de Janeiro, you know? Everyone on social media seemed to be raving about their stuff, especially those body mists. I figured, alright, I gotta see what this is all about.

My first thought was, where do I even get this? I remembered seeing something about Sephora carrying it, and then it clicked – our local Kohl’s actually has one of those Sephora mini-shops inside. Perfect. I decided to make a trip specifically for this.

My Trip to Kohl’s for Sol de Janeiro

So, I drove over to Kohl’s one afternoon. Walked in, and made a beeline for the Sephora section. It’s usually pretty well-marked, so it wasn’t hard to find. Once I was in the Sephora area, I started scanning the shelves. They have a lot of brands packed in there, so you gotta keep your eyes peeled.

After a bit of looking, I spotted the Sol de Janeiro display. It’s pretty distinctive, usually with those bright, cheerful colors. They had a good range of products out: the famous Bum Bum Cream, different body mists, some shower gels, the whole nine yards. I was mostly interested in the mists, to be honest. I wanted something that smelled good but wasn’t too heavy, you know?

I started picking up the testers. They had a few of the popular scents.

  • I tried the classic Cheirosa ’62 – that’s the one everyone talks about. Smelled like salted caramel and pistachio. Pretty nice, very warm.
  • Then I sniffed Cheirosa ’71, which was more like a caramelized vanilla and macadamia nut. Super sweet, almost like a bakery.
  • There was also Cheirosa ’40, a bit more floral and fruity with plum and vanilla woods.

I spent a good few minutes spraying them on those little paper strips, and a couple on my wrist – with a bit of a break in between so my nose wouldn’t get overwhelmed. I remembered reading somewhere that these mists are great because you can spray them all over and they don’t really overpower. That’s kind of what I was looking for. Something you can enjoy without feeling like you’ve bathed in perfume. And yeah, the scent seems to hang around for a decent while, but not like a super intense perfume that lasts all day and night, which is fine by me for a body mist.

Ultimately, I decided to grab a bottle of the Cheirosa ’62. It just had that iconic summer vibe I was curious about. I also felt good knowing I was buying it from an authorized retailer, like Sephora inside Kohl’s. You hear stories about fakes with popular brands, so it’s always better to be safe.

Checked out right there in the Sephora section. The process was smooth. Walked out of Kohl’s feeling pretty pleased with my little find. Got home, gave myself a good spritz, and yeah, I get the hype now. It’s a fun, happy scent. Glad I finally went and checked it out myself.
