So this week kicked my butt trying to get wedding stuff sorted. Feeling totally buried under decisions, y’know? Especially the whole makeup and hair thing. My cousin kept raving about some place called Vanessa Bridal & Image Makeup, so figured, hey, might as well dive in headfirst. Phone was glued to my hand constantly.
Step 1: Actually Calling Them (The Hard Part!)
Monday morning rolled around, coffee in hand, dialed their number for real. Pacing around my kitchen like a lunatic while it rang. A super friendly lady answered, thank goodness. Didn’t feel rushed at all. Just told her straight: “Listen, I’m getting married in a few months, kinda forgot about the whole looking good part until now, yikes. What magic can you folks actually do for someone like me?” She laughed, got it immediately.
Step 2: Digging Through What They Actually Offer
She started listing things off, and honestly, my eyes kinda glazed over at first. Way more than I expected! Needed her to slow down so I could scribble notes furiously on a sticky note. Here’s the lowdown she gave me:
- Getting Prepped Skin: Said they do special skin pampering stuff first? Facials or something? Supposed to make everything stick better on the big day. Need to ask more about that next time.
- Makeup Time (Bride Edition): This is the main event, obviously. She promised they’d actually look at my face and figure out colors that don’t make me look sick. Thank god. Hate when makeup feels like a plaster mask.
- Making Hair Happen (Also Bride Edition): Updos, down, half-up half-down… whatever floats your boat. Said they’ll do a practice run to make sure it doesn’t collapse halfway through vows.
- Helping the Entourage Look Human: Moms, bridesmaids, flower girls… they won’t get left out looking like zombies either. They fix them up too.
- Trial Run Isn’t Optional: She really pushed doing this. Basically a practice round weeks before the wedding. See how the makeup wears, if the hairstyle gives you a headache… all that jazz. Feels smart, avoids panic attacks later.
Step 3: Taking the Plunge & Booking the Trial
After hanging up, staring at my messy sticky notes, realized I felt way less lost than before. Called back Wednesday morning, fingers crossed they had space. Booked the darn trial appointment! They squeezed me in next month. Gotta bring ideas – like literally pictures of makeup and hair I don’t hate. Also need to wear a shirt with a similar neckline to my dress? Makes sense. Can’t wait to actually see what this place is like in person instead of just hearing about it.
Why Bothering to Call Was Worth It
Massive relief, honestly. Before calling, I was picturing some dodgy basement operation. Hearing they actually have proper steps – especially the trial run and skin prep – made it click. Knowing they handle the whole crew is a huge stress lifted. Instead of yelling into the void about makeup, now I’ve actually done something about it. Just gotta show up next month and see if they can make me look less like a stressed gremlin and more like a functional bride. Seriously, the trial can’t come soon enough!
