Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “two-tone hair” thing all over my socials, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I’m not gonna lie, I was a little scared, but it turned out way better than I expected!

Getting Started
First, I had to figure out what colors I wanted. I spent like, a whole day just scrolling through pictures. Finally, I decided to go with a dark brown on top (close to my natural color) and a light, ashy blonde underneath.
The Process
- Sectioning: This was the trickiest part. I divided my hair horizontally, basically ear-to-ear. I clipped the top section up and out of the way.
- Bleaching (Bottom Section): Since my hair is naturally pretty dark, I knew I had to bleach the bottom half to get that light blonde. I mixed up the bleach and developer, following the instructions on the box (super important!). Then, I carefully applied it to the bottom section, making sure every strand was coated.
- Waiting…and Waiting: Bleaching takes time. I kept checking my hair every 10 minutes or so to see how it was lifting. It took about 40 minutes to get to a pale yellow.
- Rinsing and Toning: I rinsed out the bleach really well, then used a toner to get rid of any brassy tones. I chose a toner that said “ash blonde.”
- Dyeing (Top half): Next I mixed up my dark brown color, and apply them onto my top half hair, let them stay for around 30 minutes and rinsed them.
- Deep Conditioning: Bleaching can be pretty drying, so I slathered on a deep conditioner and left it on for a good 20 minutes.
The Result
After all that, I finally styled my hair and…wow! I was seriously impressed. The contrast between the dark brown and the ashy blonde is so cool. It’s definitely a bolder look than I usually go for, but I’m loving it. It’s like, edgy but still kind of classy, you know?
I’m also really glad that my hair doesn’t done, at least not yet.
If you’re thinking about trying two-tone hair, I say go for it! Just make sure you do your research, take your time, and be prepared for a bit of a process. But trust me, the results are worth it!
