Okay, so I’ve been playing around with trying to find the perfect swimsuit, you know, like the ones they wear in the Miss Universe pageant. Figured I’d document my quest, haha!
Phase 1: Research (aka Stalking on Instagram)
First, I dove deep into the Instagrams of past Miss Universe winners and contestants. I was looking for patterns, common styles, anything that stood out.
I noticed a lot of high-cut legs, definitely a trend. Also, a surprising amount of one-pieces with interesting cutouts. I always thought it was all about bikinis, but nope!
Saved a bunch of pics for inspiration. My phone is now filled with swimsuit models. My husband thinks I’m crazy.
Phase 2: Trying Stuff On (The Humiliating Part)
Hit up a bunch of stores, both online and in person. Let me tell you, swimsuit shopping is brutal. The lighting in those dressing rooms is never forgiving.
Tried on a bunch of different styles – high-waisted bikinis, string bikinis, monokinis, one-pieces. I even attempted a few with those crazy side cutouts. Some were a disaster. Others… not so bad.
Learned a valuable lesson: what looks good on a supermodel doesn’t always translate to real life. Shocker, right?
Phase 3: Finding the Right Fit (And Fabric!)
Realized fit is everything. Like, seriously everything. A well-fitting swimsuit can make you feel like a million bucks, even if you don’t look like a million bucks.
Started paying attention to the fabric. Some fabrics are more supportive than others. Some are more flattering. Some are just plain uncomfortable.
Discovered a brand that actually caters to different body types. Game changer!
Phase 4: The Big Reveal (aka Poolside Confidence)
Finally found a swimsuit I felt good in. It was a high-cut one-piece with a subtle shimmer. Not exactly Miss Universe material, but definitely felt confident enough to rock it by the pool.
Accessorized with a big hat and some oversized sunglasses. Fake it till you make it, right?
Actually enjoyed myself! Didn’t spend the whole time worrying about how I looked. That’s a win in my book.
Final Thoughts:
Finding the “perfect” swimsuit is a journey, not a destination. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
Focus on finding something that makes you feel good. Confidence is the best accessory.
And maybe avoid those dressing room mirrors. They’re evil.
