Timex Velocity: Good or Bad? (The Truth Revealed)

by Marvin Connie

I’ve been messing around with watches lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. So, I wanted to share my experience with this Timex Velocity thing I got into. It all started when I was looking for a new watch. I have a few nice ones, but I wanted something I could wear every day without worrying too much about it. Then I remembered Timex.

Timex Velocity: Good or Bad? (The Truth Revealed)

Now, I’ve heard things about Timex. Some folks say they’re loud, like, you can hear them ticking from across the room. Others say they aren’t as tough as they used to be. But, I also heard they’re pretty good for the price, and they’ve been around forever, so they must be doing something right? My grandpa had this old Timex, and he swore by it.

I did some digging and stumbled upon this thing called the “Q Timex Reissue 1971 Velocity 36mm Synthetic Rubber Strap Watch.” I mean, what a name, right? I guess “Velocity” is their way of saying it’s got that sporty vibe, and it’s a throwback to a design from the 70s, which is kinda cool. I saw it on their website and they were going fast, so I just bought it without thinking too much.

When I finally got my hands on it, I was actually impressed. It wasn’t as big as I thought it would be, 36mm I mean, but it felt solid. I guess the shape and that bezel thing around the face make it look bigger on my wrist. I guess I expected a cheaper feel, but it was surprisingly nice. It’s got this cool, retro look to it. The ticking, though… yeah, it’s there. But, you know, it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. It’s more like a gentle reminder that time’s passing by. I can deal with it.

I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and honestly, I’m liking it. It’s comfortable, it looks good, and it keeps time just fine. Plus, I don’t have to baby it like my other watches. I know some folks are into those fancy automatic watches, and yeah, they’re cool and all, but this Timex does the job. I saw someone say a $40 Timex keeps better time than some $9000 one, haha. Maybe it’s true?

So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with the Timex Velocity. It’s not perfect, but it’s a solid watch for the price. If you’re looking for something reliable, stylish, and won’t break the bank, I’d say give it a shot. Who knows, you might just end up being a Timex fan like me, it’s growing on me.

  • Pros:
    • Looks good, kinda retro.
    • Keeps time well.
    • Feels solid, not cheap.
    • Cheap.
  • Cons:
    • Ticking is noticeable, could be better.
    • It’s not a Rolex, obviously.

Would I buy it again?

Probably, yeah. It’s a good everyday watch. I’m even thinking about getting another Timex, maybe one of their automatic ones, just to see what that’s all about.
