Well now, let’s talk about the power inside, you know, that thing that gets ya goin’. It ain’t just about them lights in your house, though that’s part of it, I guess.
See, electricity, that’s a big deal. We use it for everything. Keeps the food cold, makes the house warm in the winter, cool in the summer. Ya need it for your TV, your phone, even that there computer thingy the grandkids use. Can’t even run them buses and trains in the city without it, or so I hear. Life’d be real tough without it, like tryin’ to churn butter without no churn, just a whole lot harder.
- Lights
- Heatin’ and coolin’
- Keeping food fresh
- Computers and phones
- Buses and trains
But it ain’t just about them machines and gadgets. Power, that’s about gettin’ things done. Ya wanna change somethin’, ya gotta have the power to do it. Otherwise, you’re just spinnin’ your wheels, gettin’ nowhere fast. Like tryin’ to move a mountain with a teaspoon, ain’t gonna happen.
Think about it. Ya wanna fix a leaky roof? Gotta have the power in your arms to climb up there and hammer them shingles. Wanna bake a cake? Gotta have the power in your oven to heat that thing up. Even just walkin’ and talkin’, that takes power, the power inside your own body. If you ain’t got no power, you ain’t got much of nothin’.
Now, some folks, they talk about a different kind of power. A power that comes from, well, from inside your head, I reckon. They call it the “life power” or somethin’. Like that fella, Methuselah, lived a long time, they say. Maybe he knew somethin’ ’bout this power, tapped into somethin’ we don’t understand. Heard tell he looked at the sun and heard the world growin’ or somethin’ like that, kinda crazy if ya ask me. But maybe there’s somethin’ to it.
This life power, they say it’s about love and life bein’ all mixed together. Like your heart’s thirsty for somethin’ and that somethin’ is love. Sounds a bit sappy to me, but folks swear by it. They say if you see and feel this, you get the whole picture, you know? Like knowin’ which way the wind blows, ya just know it.
And then there’s this talk about gettin’ connected to somethin’ bigger than yourself. They call it the “Infinite.” Sounds fancy, but I guess it just means tapin’ into that power inside, that life power, and usin’ it to make your life better. Like if you’re havin’ a hard time, this power can help you through it. They say there are things you can do every day to get connected, simple things, they say.
It’s all a bit much for an old woman like me, but I get the gist of it. Power, whether it’s the stuff that lights up your house or the stuff that keeps you goin’, it’s important. You gotta have it to live, to change things, to make your mark on the world. And maybe, just maybe, there’s more to it than meets the eye. Maybe there’s a power inside us all, a power we can tap into if we just know how. Like plantin’ a seed, ya gotta water it and give it sunshine, and maybe that life power needs somethin’ too, maybe it needs a bit of hope and a bit of tryin’.
So, next time you flip that light switch or feel that ache in your muscles after a long day’s work, remember the power inside. It’s what makes the world go ‘round, and it’s what keeps us goin’ too. Whether it’s the electricity in the wires or the somethin’ special in your heart, it’s all part of the same big picture, I reckon. And that’s somethin’ worth thinkin’ about.
