Okay, so today I was digging into Carine Roitfeld, you know, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris. I’ve always been fascinated by her style, that whole “effortlessly chic” Parisian thing. So, I decided to spend my day trying to understand her essence, and maybe, just maybe, try to incorporate a bit of it into my own life.

My Day of Roitfeld Research
First, I started with a deep dive into Google Images. I just typed in “Carine Roitfeld style” and scrolled through hundreds of pictures. I wanted to see what patterns emerged, what were her go-to pieces, her signature looks.
- Observation 1: Lots of black. Like, a LOT of black.
- Observation 2: Pencil skirts. She seems to live in them.
- Observation 3: High heels. Always. Even with jeans.
- Observation 4: Sheer tops and shirts. A little bit of daring, but always classy.
- Observation 5: Belts! Skinny belts, wide belts cinch at the waist.
Then, I moved on to reading some interviews. I wanted to get a sense of her philosophy, her approach to fashion. I found a few quotes that really stuck with me:
- “I like to be comfortable, but I also like to be chic.”
- “Fashion is about dreaming and making other people dream.”
I try to keep these in my mind.
Next, the hard part: trying to apply this to my own wardrobe. I don’t have a closet full of designer clothes, so I had to get creative. I dug out a black pencil skirt I hadn’t worn in ages, paired it with a simple black top, and added a skinny belt. I even attempted to wear heels, which, let me tell you, is a challenge for someone who lives in sneakers.

The result? Well, I didn’t magically transform into Carine Roitfeld. But I did feel…different. A little more polished, a little more put-together. It was fun to step outside my comfort zone and experiment with a different style.
I spent the rest of the day browsing through more articles and pictures, taking notes on details I’d missed before. Her makeup, for example – always that smoky eye, that nude lip. I might try to recreate that tomorrow. It’s a process, I guess. Baby steps towards that effortless chic. I even might get some new pieces to add that perfect touch.
So, that was my Carine Roitfeld day. A little research, a little experimentation, and a lot of black. It was definitely a fun and I will keep trying.
