Alright, alright, let’s talk about this “Met Gala” thing, and that Stella McCartney lady. I ain’t no fancy pants, but I heard folks chatterin’ about it down at the market, so I figured I’d put in my two cents.
So, this Met Gala, it’s like a big ol’ party where rich folks and movie stars dress up in all sorts of crazy clothes. This year, they had this “Garden of Time” thing goin’ on. Sounds pretty, I guess, like somethin’ you’d see on a calendar in the post office. But these city folks, they take it to a whole other level, ya know?
Now, this Stella McCartney, she’s a dressmaker, I reckon. Folks say she’s all about makin’ clothes that don’t hurt the earth. That’s somethin’ I can get behind, I tell ya. We gotta take care of this planet, ’cause we ain’t got another one, just like how we only got one well in our village. If we ruin it, we’re all in a heap of trouble.
I heard tell there was this singer, FKA Twigs or somethin’, wore a dress Stella made. People were makin’ a big fuss over it, sayin’ it was “sustainable.” Sustainable, huh? That just means it didn’t mess up the earth too much, right? Like, they didn’t use no weird chemicals or hurt no animals makin’ it. Well, that’s just common sense, if you ask me. Why would you want to wear somethin’ that made the fishes sick or the trees wither?
- I tell you what, back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy words.
- We just made our clothes outta what we had – cotton from the fields, wool from the sheep.
- Nothin’ went to waste, and that was that.
This Stella, she says she gets her stuff from farms that treat animals right. Well, good for her! Animals ain’t got no voice of their own, so it’s up to us to look out for ’em. It’s like how we look after the chickens in the coop – they give us eggs, we give them a good life. It’s just the way it oughta be.
And her paper and packagin’, she says it’s all recycled. That’s smart, real smart. We always reused everything back home. Old feed sacks became quilts, jars became glasses, you get the picture. Nothin’ was ever just thrown away. Waste not, want not, that’s what my grandma used to say. It seems like these city folks are finally catchin’ on to somethin’ we country folk have known all along.
They call this “Sleeping Beauties” theme, but they want these clothes to “reawaken.” I don’t know about all that fancy talk. But I do know this: clothes should last. They shouldn’t fall apart after you wear ’em once or twice. That’s just a waste of money and resources. We always mended our clothes, patched ’em up, made ’em last as long as they could. It’s the same as tending our garden and mending our fishing nets to keep them long lasting, that’s the way things ought to be in life. Maybe this Stella, she understands that too.
So, this Met Gala, it’s a big to-do, I hear. But the important thing ain’t all the glitz and glamour. It’s about makin’ smart choices, about treatin’ the earth and the animals right, and about makin’ things that last. If this Stella McCartney is doin’ all that, then I say, good for her. She sounds like she’s got her head screwed on straight, even if she does make clothes for them fancy city folk.
And another thing, all this fuss about clothes… People should focus more on bein’ good to each other, not just lookin’ good. That’s what really matters, at the end of the day.
Anyways, that’s all I gotta say about it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
