Okay, so lemme tell you about my little adventure with the Shinola Tribeca store. I wanted to check it out because I’ve heard good things about their products and the whole “made in Detroit” vibe. Plus, I was looking for a new watch, so perfect excuse, right?

First off, I hopped on the subway and headed downtown. It’s in a pretty cool area, lots of trendy shops and restaurants. Finally found the store, and the front is all big windows, super clean and modern looking. Definitely catches your eye.
I walked inside, and immediately, the smell of leather hits you. I mean, good leather, you know? Not that fake stuff. The store layout is nice, everything is well-organized, not too cluttered. They’ve got watches, leather goods, bikes, even some audio equipment. It’s like a grown-up’s playground.
I went straight for the watches, obviously. They had a decent selection, different styles and price points. I tried on a couple, a Runwell and a Detrola, just to get a feel. The Runwell is classic, super clean, but the Detrola was a bit more my style, a little more playful.
Spent a good twenty minutes just looking at the details. The finishing, the way the hands moved, all that stuff. You can tell they put some effort into it. I also asked the guy behind the counter about the movements, where they’re made, the whole story. He was pretty knowledgeable, not just trying to sell me something. That’s always a plus.
Then I wandered over to the leather goods. wallets, belts, bags, the whole shebang. I was tempted by a leather wallet, but I just bought one last year, so I resisted. But man, the quality was top-notch. You could tell it was going to last a long time.

After that, I took a peek at the bikes. They’re beautiful, but way out of my price range. Still, cool to look at. They had a few different models, some city bikes, some cruisers. Real head-turners.
Finally, I went back to the watches. I was still torn between the Runwell and the Detrola. I decided to try them on one more time. The Runwell was timeless, but the Detrola felt more like “me.” So, I pulled the trigger and bought the Detrola.
They boxed it up nice, gave me a little info packet about the watch. The whole experience was pretty smooth. No pressure, just helpful staff and good products.
I walked out of the store feeling pretty good about my purchase. It’s not just a watch, it’s a piece of Detroit, you know? Plus, I like supporting companies that are trying to make things in the USA. I’d definitely recommend checking out the Shinola Tribeca store if you’re in the area. It’s worth a visit, even if you’re just window shopping.
