Self Tanner Disaster? How to Get Self Tanner off Hands Now!

by Marvin Connie

Okay, so you know how sometimes you get a little too enthusiastic with the self-tanner? Yeah, that was me last week. My hands looked like I’d been digging in dirt for a month. So, I went on a mission to figure out how to get that stuff off without looking like a斑马.

Self Tanner Disaster? How to Get Self Tanner off Hands Now!

First Attempt: Lemon Juice & Baking Soda

I read online that lemon juice and baking soda is like, a miracle worker. I squeezed half a lemon into a bowl, added a couple tablespoons of baking soda to make a paste. It fizzed up like crazy! I scrubbed it on my hands, focusing on the worst areas, for like, 5 minutes.

Did it work? Kinda. It lightened the tan a little, but my hands just smelled like a lemon cookie afterwards. Plus, the baking soda made my skin feel super dry. Fail.

Round Two: Exfoliating Scrub

Next, I remembered I had this super gritty exfoliating scrub in the shower. It’s the kind you use for your legs before shaving. I figured, “What the heck? Let’s try it.” I wet my hands, scooped out a generous amount of the scrub, and went to town. I really scrubbed, like I was trying to get rid of actual dirt.

The verdict? Better! The scrub definitely buffed away some of the tan, especially on my knuckles and between my fingers. But, my hands were still noticeably darker than the rest of me. Plus, they were starting to get a little red from all the scrubbing. Progress, but not perfect.

The Big Guns: Tan Remover Wipes

Alright, I was getting desperate. I remembered I had these self-tan remover wipes tucked away in my bathroom cabinet. I usually use them to fix streaks on my legs, but hey, desperate times. I grabbed one of the wipes and went over my hands thoroughly.

Finally! This stuff actually worked! The wipe started picking up the color immediately. I had to use two wipes to get my hands back to a normal-ish color, but it was totally worth it. They smelled kinda weird, like chemicals, but who cares? Success!

My Aftercare Routine

After all that scrubbing and wiping, my hands were feeling pretty rough. So, I lathered them up with a super rich moisturizer and even put on some gloves overnight. My hands felt so much better in the morning.

  • Lesson Learned: Be careful when applying self-tanner!
  • My Go-To Solution: Self-tan remover wipes are my new best friend.
  • Don’t Forget: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Hope this helps you if you ever find yourself with orange hands! Good luck!
