Rihanna Lightning Makeup Tutorial: Recreate Her Iconic Glowing Skin at Home

Okay, so, I saw this thing online about Rihanna and her “lightning” look, and I just had to try it out. You know, see if I could get that same glow. It looked pretty simple, just a couple of steps, so I thought, why not?

First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I didn’t have the exact same products she used, but I found some similar things in my makeup bag. Close enough, right? I mean, it’s all about the technique, not the brand.

Then, I watched the video of Rihanna doing her thing a few times. Just to get a good look at how she was doing it. She made it look so easy! I set up my mirror, put on some music, and started trying to copy what she did.

I started with a clean face, obviously. Then, I applied the first product, which was some kind of shimmery primer. I just dabbed it on my cheekbones, brow bones, and a little on my nose. Basically, anywhere the light would naturally hit. I used my fingers because that’s what she did. It felt kind of weird, but hey, I was going for the full experience.

  • Clean face – check.
  • Shimmery primer – check.
  • Dabbing on the right spots – check.

Next up was some kind of highlighter. It was a creamy stick, but I used a powder one because that’s what I had. I put that on top of the primer, blending it in with a brush. I tried to be all precise like Rihanna, but let’s be real, I’m no makeup artist. It was starting to look… shiny. Maybe a little too shiny?

Trying to Shine Bright

I kept going, though. I added a bit of blush, some mascara, and a neutral lip gloss. The whole thing took me way longer than it probably should have. I was trying to get the lighting right, too, so I could see if it really worked. It’s all about those angles, you know?

In the end, did I look like Rihanna? Nope. Not even close. But, my skin did have a kind of glow to it. I guess you could call it “lightning.” Or maybe just “sweaty.” It wasn’t exactly a flawless look, but it was fun to try. I took a few selfies, sent them to my friends, and we had a good laugh.

So, yeah, that’s my Rihanna “lightning” experiment. It wasn’t perfect, but I did it. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime, with different products or something. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually figure out how to shine bright like a diamond. Or at least, like a slightly sparkly light bulb.
