Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a pair of Retro 4 Fears for a while now. I mean, who hasn’t? They’re classics! But, you know, they’re not exactly easy to find, and when you do find them, the price can be insane.

First thing I did was hit up all the usual spots online. You know, the big sneaker sites, the resale platforms… nothing. Or, well, nothing in my size and in a condition I was willing to accept, and certainly nothing near a price I was willing to pay. I even checked some of those smaller, more niche boutiques online. Still no luck.
So, I decided to get a little more… active. I started hitting up local sneaker groups on social media. You know, those groups where people buy, sell, and trade? I figured someone might be looking to offload a pair. I posted a “Want to Buy” message, describing exactly what I was looking for: Retro 4 Fear, size 10, good condition.
I got a few responses, but most of them were either way overpriced or the shoes were beat up. There was one guy, though, who seemed promising. He sent me some pictures, and the shoes looked pretty good. We chatted a bit, negotiated the price down a little, and agreed to meet up.
The Meetup
Now, meeting up with a stranger to buy something always feels a little sketchy, right? So, I made sure to meet him in a public place – a busy coffee shop during the day. I brought a friend along, too, just for extra safety. You can never be too careful.
The guy showed up, and he had the shoes. I inspected them carefully. I checked the stitching, the materials, the soles… everything. I even compared them to pictures of authentic pairs online, just to make sure they weren’t fakes. It’s crazy how good some of the fakes are these days!

- Checked size tag is correct, size 10.
- Made sure jumpman logo looks correct.
- Smell tested inside the shoes.
Everything looked good, though. They seemed legit. So, I paid the guy, and the shoes were mine! Finally!
I was so stoked. I wore them straight out of the coffee shop. It felt great to finally have them on my feet after searching for so * was totally worth the effort. It just goes to show, sometimes you gotta put in the work to get what you want. And sometimes, you gotta meet a stranger in a coffee shop. But hey, it all worked out in the end!
