Alright so a few months back I got obsessed with finding Brazilian perfumes after seeing some travel vlogger rave about ’em. Total rabbit hole. Way harder than I thought though. Like, most big perfume sites don’t list ’em under “Brazil” or anything, had to get creative. Figured I’d share the chaos.

Started Simple: Just Search Online
Typed “buy Brazilian perfume” online, obviously. Got flooded with generic shops and travel blogs. Useless. Remembered some Brazilian friends talking about these brands called Natura and Boticario. Searched specifically for Natura Brazil and O Boticário Brazil. Still tricky! Sites wanted to redirect me to international pages with different stuff.
After like an hour of clicking:
- Found Natura’s Brazilian site directly through a global portal link buried in their footer. Annoying.
- Boticario was even worse – thought I found it, got excited, added stuff to cart… boom. Shipping error. Not shipping to my country. Gut punch.
- Felt like throwing the laptop. Seriously. Why is buying smell-good water this hard?
Went Old School: Asked Real People
Gave up on machines, asked flesh-and-blood humans. Hit up a Brazilian coffee shop owner downtown. That guy was a goldmine. Patted me on the back like I was his lost nephew.
- He wrote down two names for me: “Beijos” and “Malbec” from Boticario. Said they smell like Rio beaches and sugarcane moonshine, haha.
- Told me about “Ekos” from Natura. Guaranteed I’d smell like walking through the Amazon rainforest. Sounded kinda hippie but I was intrigued.
- Absolute legend tipped me off about local Brazilian grocery stores. Said they sometimes act like mini perfume shops for the community. Never would’ve thought of that.
Armed with names, hit the streets. Found a small grocery store run by a Brazilian family. Shelves were packed with beans and spices… then boom. A tiny section with bottles of Natura Ekos! Jackpot. No Boticario though. Owner said his brother sends them over sometimes, but it’s totally random. Bought the Ekos right there. Smelled like wet wood and fruit.
Persist Like Hell: Boticario Blues
That Boticario was mocking me. Couldn’t find reliable shops that shipped here. My online deep dive got weirder. Found forums where Brazilians abroad complained about the EXACT same thing. Felt less stupid.

Strategy shift:
- Looked for third-party sellers that specialize in global goods. Sites aimed at expats.
- Checked big department stores randomly just in case. Nada. Zilch. Asked a confused clerk about Malbec. She thought I meant the wine.
- Seriously contemplated finding someone actually going to Brazil. “Hey, can you stuff your suitcase with perfume?”
Sticker shock! Those prices… jeez. Almost triple what they cost in Brazil? Highway robbery. This is why people call it ‘affordable’ only if you’re in Brazil.
Finally Hit Paydirt (Sort Of)
After weeks of this nonsense, found a seller based in Brazil on a big online marketplace. Had killer reviews specifically mentioning shipping overseas. Prices were still way higher than Brazilian prices, but cheaper than the extortionate third-party sites. Bit the bullet. Ordered the Beijos and Malbec. Prayed customs wouldn’t eat it.
A nail-biting month later, a battered box arrived!
- Beijos: Super sweet. Like candy and flowers. Too much for me, but my partner loved it.
- Malbec Black: Winner winner. Dark, smoky, leathery. Smooth but strong. Exactly my vibe.
Total cost per bottle with shipping? Forget ‘affordable’. But I got ’em. Finally.
Why Was This So Damn Hard?
Made me think it’s not just about the perfume. Why don’t these Brazilian giants make buying easy outside Brazil? Probably same reason my old boss thought a fax machine was cutting-edge tech. Different worlds, different priorities. Protecting local markets? Don’t care enough about export? Who knows.

Bottom line? Brazilian scents exist and some are amazing. “Affordable” outside Brazil is a big fat joke unless you have a personal smuggler. Takes detective work and patience. Buy the ones you like locally if you ever visit. For the rest of us? Prepare for a wild goose chase and expensive shipping fees. Still worth it for that Malbec smell though. Totally.
