This year, that Pantone color, they say it’s a big deal. They got all these fancy names for colors, like that Chocolate Brown, sound like somethin’ you’d eat, right? I seen it, it’s like 19-0912 TCX or somethin’. A whole bunch of numbers and letters. Back in my day, we just called it brown. But this Pantone, they say it’s special. They make a big fuss about it. They use some long words, saying that those pantone colors can keep things the same color everywhere.
They say these Pantone folks, they made a whole new language just for colors. Sounds crazy, don’t it? But I guess it helps those fancy folks who make clothes and stuff. They can get the same color every time, no matter where they are. That’s what they say, anyway. These young folks and their new ways. It is all too complicated for me, just tell me it is brown will be fine. They even got a new thing, Pantone Connect they call it. Says it’s for them designers, lets ’em find all the colors they need. They can see all them colors on their phones and computers.
And then they got these letters, C and U, sounds like see you. But it ain’t. They say C means the color’s gonna be shiny, like a new penny. And U, well, that means it ain’t shiny, like an old piece of paper. Who knew, right? There are a lot of rules for one color brown. They call that color Mocha Mousse, sound fancy, right? They say it is not heavy, it is light. I guess it does look kinda fluffy. Like that chocolate stuff you whip up real good. I still don’t know how to use it though. I guess it’s good for something.
They got this Pantone Color Finder thing too. You can look up all them colors they got. They say you can even find other things that are the same color. Like if you find a brown you like, you can find other stuff that’s the same brown. I guess that’s handy if you’re into that sort of thing. I don’t know what to say about that. I just use my eyes to see if the color is the same. It is not that hard to tell, is it?
All these new ways to look at colors. This Pantone color brown, it’s all over the place these days. I see it on them TV commercials, in them magazines. Even them young folks are wearin’ it. They say it’s the new thing. I guess brown’s back in style. But for me, brown was never out of style, it is just a color. I don’t know what is the big deal.

I remember when we didn’t have all these fancy names for colors. We just had brown, and that was good enough. But I guess times change. These young folks, they like their fancy things. I guess I am too old for that. And I guess that’s okay. As long as they don’t forget how to find a good strong color, like a good brown. This color brown is just a brown, it is everywhere in my life. I don’t need a name for it.
This whole Pantone color thing, it’s a bit much for me. But I guess if it helps them designers and them clothes makers, then it’s a good thing. They can keep their fancy names and their numbers. I’ll just stick to what I know. Brown is brown, and that’s all there is to it. I don’t need those fancy words to tell me it is brown. I can see it myself.
They say this Pantone Connect thing is all digital. You can use it on your phone, your computer, all them fancy gadgets. I guess that’s good for them young folks. They’re always on their phones anyway. I still prefer the old way. Just lookin’ at things with your own two eyes. It’s simpler that way. You don’t need any internet or anything like that. I can not understand how to use it.
This Mocha Mousse color, they say it’s gonna be big. They say it’s a statement color. I don’t know about all that. It just looks like brown to me. But I guess if they say so, then maybe it is. They are always coming up with new things. It is hard to keep up with those new things. I just don’t pay much attention to it.
That Pantone Color Finder, it sounds useful, I guess. You can find all sorts of things that are the same color. Like if you got a shirt that’s that Chocolate Brown, you can find pants that match. That’s what they say, anyway. I just use my eyes. If it looks the same, it’s the same. I don’t know how they do that with a computer. But that is amazing.
So, this Pantone color brown, it’s a big deal, I guess. It’s got all these fancy names and numbers. It’s got its own special language. It is too much to remember. It’s even got its own special tools. But at the end of the day, it’s just brown. And that’s good enough for me. I’ve seen a lot of browns in my time. And this one, it’s just another brown. A good, solid brown. And that’s all that matters. This is just a color.
I don’t need all them fancy words to tell me what color it is. I got my eyes, and they work just fine. And I got my memories, and they tell me what brown looks like. This color brown is nothing new to me. I’ve seen it all my life. On the ground, on the trees, on the animals. It’s a good color. A strong color. It is just the color brown to me.
