My summer lightweight coat hunt
Decided I needed something thin for breezy evenings. Kept seeing folks rave about lightweight coats online. Figured what the heck – ordered that Alo summer nights jacket everyone’s buzzing about.

Unboxed it right on my kitchen counter. First thing I noticed? You can literally scrunch this thing into a ball. Held it up against my winter puffer – looked like a deflated balloon next to this featherweight thing.
Tested it during my evening dog walks. First night was cool-ish, maybe 60°F. Slid my arms in expecting that stiff new-jacket feel but nope. Felt like wearing one of those silky pajama tops my grandma loves. Wind cut through but didn’t freeze my butt off.
What surprised me most:
- Packed into my tiny crossbody bag without bulging
- Got caught in sudden drizzle – beads rolled right off
- That mesh lining actually breathes when you sweat
Few hiccups though:
- Zipper snagged twice on first use
- Elastic cuffs feel flimsy
- Pockets barely fit my car keys
Threw it in my suitcase for last weekend’s beach trip. Folded it flat between tank tops. When the night breeze kicked in, just whipped it out over my sundress. Total game-changer from lugging bulky hoodies around.

Would I buy again? Honestly yeah. It’s become my go-to for summer outings – kinda like that worn-in flannel shirt every dude owns. Just hangs by my door ready to grab. Not perfect but beats sweating through denim jackets.
