Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my manicures to last longer, and I kept hearing about this Orly Bonder base coat. I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m pretty rough on my nails, so anything that promises extra staying power is worth a try in my book.
Getting Started
First, I gathered my usual nail stuff – nail polish remover, cotton balls, my favorite color polish, and of course, the Orly Bonder.
I started out by swiping off any old polish and making sure my nails were clean and dry, super basic, just like wiping down a table before you set dinner down.
Applying the Bonder
Then came the Bonder. Now, this stuff is kinda rubbery, not like regular, watery base coats. I brushed on a thin layer to each nail.
It felt a bit sticky at first, which I guess is the whole “bonding” part.
- Apply a THIN coat, seriously. Don’t glop it on.
- Make sure you cover the whole nail, even the edges.
I waited a couple of minutes for it to dry completely, don’t rush things if you do this, it neededs to be ready for next layer.
Color and Top Coat
After the Bonder was good to go, I put on two coats of my regular polish, that one took a couple of minitues to dry for each layer. Nothing fancy, just my normal routine.
Finally, I finished everything off with a quick layer of regular top coat, that added some shine and some extra layer of protection.
The Results
Honestly, I was pretty impressed. Usually, my polish starts chipping within a day or two, it is pretty anoying. But with the Bonder, I made it almost a full week before I saw any major wear and tear, I would say that it’s pretty good, a full week!
It’s not a miracle cure for totally indestructible nails, but it definitely helped my manicure last way longer than usual, I would say that it worths every penny.
So, if you’re like me and your polish chips super fast, it is worth a try, I was really tired of doing my nails frequently, this base coat really helps!
