Okay, so I dug out my old Tamagotchi the other day, you know, the little digital pet thing? It was still kicking, surprisingly! But the clock on it was totally messed up, like it was living in a different time zone, or maybe just stuck in 1997. I figured, hey, I can probably fix this. It’s a simple gadget, right?
Getting Started – The Button Mashing Phase (Almost)
First thing, I stared at it for a good minute. There are those three little buttons, usually A, B, and C. I had this fuzzy memory that you needed to press a combination to get to the settings. My first instinct, like with most old tech, was to just start pressing buttons randomly, but I told myself, “Nah, let’s try to be a bit methodical here.”
I remembered reading somewhere, or maybe I just guessed from past experience with these things, that to get into the settings mode, you often have to press two buttons at once. So, I tried the A and B buttons together. Nothing. Then B and C. Still nothing. Then, I thought, “Okay, let’s try the outside ones.” So I pressed the A and C buttons down at the same time. Bingo! The screen changed! It went to this clock setting screen, with the numbers blinking at me. Success!
Actually Changing the Time
Alright, so now I was in the right place. The hour digits were flashing. I looked around for which button did what. I started pressing the A button, and yep, that was it. Each press of the A button moved the hour forward. So I just kept clicking that until I got the correct hour. Pretty straightforward.
Once the hour was set, I needed to do the minutes. I figured it would be the B button, and sure enough, it was. Pressing the B button let me change the minutes. Same deal as the hours, just tap-tap-tap until it’s right. I had to be a little careful not to go past the number I wanted, ’cause then you gotta go all the way around again, which is a bit annoying but not the end of the world.
- A button: Changes the hour.
- B button: Changes the minute.
It was a bit fiddly, not gonna lie, tiny buttons and all, but I got there. I double-checked against my phone to make sure I had the exact current time.
All Set and Done!
After I had the hours and minutes looking correct, I needed to confirm it. I think I pressed the C button again. Or maybe you just wait a few seconds and it sets itself. Whatever it was, the screen went back to my little Tamagotchi doing its thing, and the clock at the top was now showing the right time! Sweet!
It felt good, you know? A small victory. My little digital buddy is now living in the present with me. It’s funny the little things that can make you feel accomplished. Now, to make sure I actually feed it…
