So today I needed that Taubman Centers stock symbol for something – y’know, the fancy mall company? Figured it’d be easy. Grabbed my laptop first thing after breakfast. Opened Chrome like always. Typed “Taubman stock symbol” right into Google, pressed enter.

Total Mess At First
Man, Google kept shoving ads for stock apps at me. First three results were all brokers wanting me to sign up. Scrolled down… saw some sketchy “investment tips” sites, some old news articles. Got annoyed fast. Thought “This should take ten seconds!” Tried “TUB stock” cause I kinda remembered “TUB-something”, but nope. Those weird sites popped up again.
My coffee was going cold at this point. Added “NYSE” to the search. Boom! Top result said Taubman was bought by Simon Property Group last year. My brain froze. What? When did that happen? Scratched my head thinking “I swear they were trading last month…”
- Checked SPG’s investor page – nothing
- Dug into some SEC filing sites – saw the deal closing date
- Stared at my screen groaning “Of COURSE it’s gone now”
The Duh Moment
Finally hit up the New York Stock Exchange website directly. Searched “Taubman Centers”. Big fat “No Results Found”. Almost threw my pen. Then it clicked. That’s why the symbol doesn’t work! Took a sip of cold coffee like an idiot.
So yeah – no active Taubman Centers stock ticker. Dead symbol.
Figured this out after:

- Wasting ten minutes staring at ads
- Chasing old tickers that didn’t exist
- Reading tiny print on merger news
Lesson learned? Companies vanish fast, even the big mall guys.
Always double-check if they got eaten by a bigger fish.
