Monster high witch is the best? Check out these awesome dolls!

by Meredith Sassoon

Okay, so the other day I was messing around, trying to come up with something cool for my kid who’s super into Monster High. I thought, “Why not try to make something related to that?” I mean, that’s what crafting is all about, right? Trying new things and having fun.

So I started digging around. I remember one of the characters, Venus McFlytrap, she’s all about nature and stuff. I thought that would be a good starting point. Also, I found this other doll, Skelita Calaveras. I thought it is pretty cool for some collections. So, yeah, I started with these two, thinking about how to combine them in a witchy way.

Getting Started

First, I had to gather some materials. I’m no pro, but I know my way around a craft store. I picked up some basic stuff:

  • Fabrics: I wanted some dark greens, purples, and maybe some black lace.
  • Paints: You can’t really do anything without these, especially if you’re going for that “witchy” vibe.
  • Accessories: I found some tiny plastic skulls, some fake plants, and even some glitter glue.

Putting It Together

The first thing I did was sketch out some ideas. I wanted something that mixed the nature theme of Venus with the look of Skelita. I’m not an artist, but it was enough to get the idea down. I decided to make a new outfit for one of my old Monster High dolls. I took apart some of the old clothes, figured out the patterns, and started cutting the new fabrics. Sewing is not my strongest suit, but hey, it worked out in the end!

Next up, the accessories. I glued some of the fake plants onto a tiny hat I made. I used the paints to add some spooky details to the outfit, like making the edges look worn out. The plastic skulls were a nice touch, I added them to the shoes and as a necklace. Glitter glue? Well, that was just for fun. Every witch needs a little sparkle, you know?

The Final Result

It took a few tries, and there were definitely some “oops” moments, but in the end, I had a pretty cool-looking Monster High witch. I think I captured the vibe pretty well. My kid loved it, and that’s what really matters. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and it was a fun project. I even thought about making more, maybe trying out different characters and themes. Crafting is addictive like that, isn’t it? You start with one thing, and before you know it, you’re planning your next big project. Anyway, that’s my little adventure in making a Monster High witch. It was fun, messy, and totally worth it.
