Okay, so today I decided to tackle something I’ve been seeing all over my TikTok and Instagram feeds: the “men midriff” trend. I’ve always been a bit… hesitant about showing off my stomach, but hey, why not give it a shot, right?

Getting Started
First things first, I needed a top. I didn’t want to go full-on crop top, so I rummaged through my closet and found an old, oversized t-shirt. This seemed like the perfect candidate for a little DIY action.
- Grabbed some scissors.
- Took a deep breath (this was the point of no return!).
- Started cutting.
I eyeballed it, aiming for a length that would show just a sliver of skin above my jeans. No precise measurements here, just going with the flow. It ended up being a bit uneven, but I kinda liked the rough, unfinished look.
The Styling
Next, I threw on my favorite pair of high-waisted jeans. I figured the high waist would balance out the cropped top and make me feel a little less exposed. I also added a simple belt to cinch everything in.
I considered adding a jacket or a flannel shirt tied around my waist, but decided to keep it simple for my first attempt. Baby steps, you know?
The Big Reveal (to Myself)
Okay, so I wasn’t exactly ready to strut down the street in my new creation. Instead, I spent some time posing in front of the mirror. I tried different angles, checked myself out, and honestly… I didn’t hate it!

It felt a little weird at first, a bit unfamiliar, but also kinda… liberating? I realized that showing a little skin wasn’t the end of the world. It was actually kind of fun!
Final Thoughts
Will I be rocking this look every day? Probably not. But I’m definitely glad I tried it. It was a fun little experiment that pushed me out of my comfort zone. And who knows, maybe I’ll even brave wearing it out in public sometime soon. Maybe.
