Mclaren Concept Cars: Whats New and Exciting? (Get a Sneak Peek)

by Adelaide Davy

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of McLaren concept cars all day, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. Started this morning with a totally blank slate, just staring at my computer screen.

First thing I did was just go on a deep dive. You know, just looking at tons of pictures and stuff. I wanted to see what other people had come up with, get some inspiration, get my creative juices flowing. I spent like, a solid two hours just browsing, saving images, and making notes of things I liked.

After that, I felt like I had a pretty good grasp of what I was going, I opened my main tool, and began to do modeling.

I started rough, just blocking out some basic shapes. Didn’t worry too much about details at this point, just trying to get the overall form right. I use very simple shapes and make combinations.

Once I had a basic shape I was happy with, I started refining things. Added details, smoothed out the surfaces, started playing with the overall aesthetic. This part took a while, a lot of tweaking and adjusting. I get many results by copying and rotating them. I made so many changes, It’s a little hard to describe.

My First Cool Concept

  • Front:Kept it super aggressive, low to the ground. Huge air intakes, because, well, it’s a McLaren.
  • Sides:Really sculpted, lots of curves and flowing lines. Tried to make it look like it was moving even when it’s standing still.
  • Back: Big diffuser, of course. And I played around with some different exhaust setups.

I am very pleased with the final result.I played with many different light and shadow settings to make it seems real, and it really worked out I think!

Anyway, that’s basically how my day went. Lots of trial and error, lots of experimenting, but in the end, I think I came up with something pretty cool. It’s not perfect, but hey, it’s a concept, right? It’s all about pushing the boundaries and trying new things.
