Alright, let’s gab a bit about this Lady Gaga and her “Born This Way” thing, you know, the whole look and feel of it. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, just a plain ol’ woman lookin’ at things, but I’ll tell ya what I see.
This “Born This Way” stuff, it’s all about bein’ yourself, right? That’s what I get from it. Lady Gaga, she’s singin’ about how it don’t matter if you’re gay, straight, or whatever else they call it these days. Says you’re born that way, and that’s just fine. Like she says in that song, somethin’ about, “No matter gay, straight, or bi, you’re born this way,” somethin’ like that. It’s like sayin’ God made ya the way ya are, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of.
Now, the way she looks, that’s somethin’ else. It’s…different. Lots of weird clothes, lots of makeup, hair all over the place. Sometimes she looks like she just rolled outta bed, and sometimes she looks like a, well, I don’t even know what! But I reckon that’s part of it, showin’ you can be whatever you wanna be. They call it “aesthetic,” this lookin’ thing. Sounds fancy, but I just think it means how things look and feel, you know?
- She’s got this Born This Way aesthetic thing goin’ on, lots of leather, lots of spikes, lots of… well, everything!
- And that derp face she makes? Don’t ask me how she does it, but it’s kinda funny, kinda weird, all at the same time.
- People are even lookin’ for ideas and stuff on this “Pinterest” thing. Searchin’ for “Born this way aesthetic” or “Lady Gaga born this way era” and whatnot. Guess they like the way she looks.
I heard tell she’s kinda shy, this Lady Gaga. Can ya believe it? All that getup, and she’s shy! Says she’s only really open with folks she knows well. With strangers, she keeps to herself, focuses on her music. Says she feels shy around all them Hollywood types, too. Guess even fancy folks get shy sometimes.
This whole “Born This Way” thing, it ain’t just about the clothes and the makeup, though. It’s deeper than that. It’s about acceptin’ yourself, and acceptin’ others. It’s about bein’ brave enough to be different. Like that Carl Bean fella she talks about, the one that inspired her. He was a preacher, but he was also gay. And he wasn’t afraid to be himself, even back when folks weren’t so understandin’.
So, yeah, this “Born This Way” thing, it’s got a lot goin’ on. It’s about the music, the look, the message. And it’s about bein’ yourself, no matter what. That’s somethin’ I can get behind. Even if I don’t always understand the fancy words or the crazy outfits, I understand that. Bein’ yourself, that’s somethin’ everybody can do, whether you’re a big star like Lady Gaga or just a plain ol’ woman like me. And that’s a good thing, I reckon.
And if ya wanna get in touch with Lady Gaga or her folks, I heard tell ya can email ’em. Somethin’ about a “Born This Way Foundation” or “Haus Labs.” Don’t ask me what all that is, but they say it’s how ya reach her. Guess even big stars gotta have emails these days, huh?
Anyways, that’s my two cents on this whole thing. Just a plain ol’ woman’s thoughts on Lady Gaga and her “Born This Way.” Take it or leave it, it’s all the same to me.
