Kids Super Spy Costume: Adventure Awaits for Boys&Girls

by Rod Nichol

Okay, so check it out, I’m gonna walk you through how I threw together this killer super spy costume. It all started ’cause I had this party to go to, right? Theme was “Secret Agents & Villains,” and I was like, “Dude, I gotta crush this.”

Step One: The Suit. First thing’s first, you need a suit. I didn’t wanna drop a ton of cash, so I hit up my local thrift store. Scored a sweet black suit jacket and pants for like, twenty bucks total. They were a little big, but that’s cool, gives it that “I just fought ten guys in a back alley” kinda vibe.

Step Two: The Shirt. White dress shirt. Obvious, right? I already had one kicking around in my closet. Ironed it…kinda. Wrinkles add character, I swear.

Step Three: The Tie. Black tie is the only way to go. Found one at the same thrift store as the suit. Again, super cheap. Made sure it wasn’t too shiny, you want sleek, not disco ball.

Step Four: The Shoes. This is where I splurged a little. I had these old black dress shoes that were looking pretty beat up. Gave ’em a good polish, made ’em look almost new. You can’t be a super spy with scuffed shoes, c’mon.

Step Five: The Accessories! This is where it gets fun.

  • Sunglasses: Crucial. Had a pair of aviators lying around. Instant cool factor.
  • Watch: Gotta have a watch, even if it’s just a cheap one. Makes you look like you’re keeping track of important stuff.
  • Fake Gun: Okay, this is where you gotta be careful. I got a plastic toy gun from a party supply store. Painted it black. Important: Make sure it’s super obvious it’s a toy. You don’t want any real trouble.
  • Earpiece: I took an old Bluetooth earpiece and just wore it. Made me look like I was getting instructions from HQ all night.

Putting it all together: Alright, so I threw on the suit, the shirt, the tie. Adjusted the sunglasses. Slid the earpiece in. Strapped on the watch. Tucked the (obviously fake) gun into my jacket. Looked in the mirror…bam! Super spy ready to roll.

The party was a blast. Everyone loved the costume. Got tons of compliments. And the best part? It barely cost me anything. Thrifting and a little creativity goes a long way. So yeah, that’s how I made my super spy costume. Go try it yourself!
