Okay, so I’ve been seeing this Jean-Michel Basquiat guy’s art everywhere lately. It’s got this cool, raw, kind of childlike vibe that I really dig. I heard he was a big deal back in the day, like one of the most important artists of the 20th century or something. I don’t know much about art, but I know what I like, and I like his stuff.

So I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to have a shirt with one of his paintings on it? I started looking around, and man, there are a lot of places selling Basquiat stuff. I mean, you can find his art on just about anything these days.
I went to a few stores, checked out some online shops, you know, the usual places, and I tried to browse the most sought after Jean Michel Basquiat clothing including Short Sleeve T-Shirts, Sweatshirts Hoodies, Long Sleeve T-Shirts, but there are some troubles.
I found a few shirts I liked, but they were either way too expensive, or the quality looked kind of shoddy. I mean, I want something that’s going to last, not fall apart after a couple of washes.

I finally found the one
Then I stumbled upon this one site, I think it was Gap Factory, that had a whole collection of Basquiat shirts. They looked pretty good, and the prices were reasonable. I ended up getting one with this really cool graphic on it. It’s simple but eye-catching. I tried Shop Gap’s Gap #215 Jean-Michel Basquiat Graphic T-Shirt.
I’ve been wearing it a lot lately, and I always get compliments on it. People are like, “Hey, is that a Basquiat?” And I’m like, “Yeah, it is.” It’s a good conversation starter, you know?

Anyway, I just wanted to share my little Basquiat shirt adventure. If you’re into his art, you should definitely check out some of the shirts that are out there. Just be prepared to do a little digging to find the right one. I used acrylic, oil paint and spray paint on canvas, paper, linen, paper collage to make my favorite shirt.
And I am pretty sure that I am not a black artist, I am an artist.
