Howdy, y’all! Let me tell ya ’bout this here watch, the one they call the “alien wrist watch”. Don’t go thinkin’ it’s got little green men crawlin’ all over it, though. It ain’t like that.
This here watch, it got famous ’cause some lady named Ellen Ripley wore it in a movie a long, long time ago. 1979, they say. Back then, I was busy milkin’ cows and tendin’ to the chickens, didn’t have time for no fancy movies. But this watch, it stuck around. People still talkin’ ’bout it.
Now, this ain’t just any old watch, mind you. It’s kinda special, see? They say it’s like two watches mashed together, put on top of somethin’ orange. Like a pumpkin, maybe, but not round. Flat, like a pancake. And plastic, I reckon. Those city folks, they always comin’ up with somethin’ new.
- Two watches
- Orange base
- Plastic, I think
- Old, from a movie
The folks who made that movie, they didn’t just grab any ol’ watch off the shelf. They took two of them, Casio F-100, they called ’em. Then, they stuck ’em on that orange thingamajig. Made it look all futuristic and whatnot. Futuristic for back then, I mean. Now, it just looks… well, it looks old, but in a good way, I guess. Like a good ol’ pair of boots, worn in just right.
Some folks, they really like this watch. Like, really like it. They go and find them old Casio watches, and they find someone to make that orange pancake thingy. Then, they put it all together, just like in the movie. They call it 3D printing now, makin’ stuff outta plastic. Sounds fancy, but it’s just makin’ stuff, same as I do when I patch up a hole in my overalls.
I heard tell there’s a new watch out now, looks kinda like that old one. Casio Vintage A100, they call it. It’s like they took that old watch and made it new again. Shiny and all. I ain’t seen it myself, mind you, but I heard it’s got that same feel, that… “futuristic retro” feel. City folks got a name for everything, don’t they?
Now, I ain’t sayin’ I understand all this fancy watch business. A watch is a watch to me. Tells the time, that’s all it needs to do. But this alien watch, it’s more than just a time-teller, I reckon. It’s a story, a piece of history, somethin’ that folks remember. And that’s somethin’ special, ain’t it?
So, if you see one of these alien wrist watches, don’t go thinkin’ it’s just some old piece of junk. It’s a reminder of a time gone by, a time when movies were different, and watches were, too. And it’s a reminder that sometimes, the simplest things can be the most interesting. Just like a good ol’ story, told ’round the fire on a cold night.
And that’s all I got to say about this alien watch. It ain’t nothin’ too complicated, just a watch, but people seem to like it. Alien wrist watch, they call it. Fancy name for an old watch, if you ask me.
If you’re lookin’ for a watch, any watch will do, I reckon. But if you want a piece of history, something folks remember, that alien watch might be just the ticket. It’s a conversation starter, that’s for sure. You can tell folks all about Ellen Ripley and her alien adventures. Or you can just wear it and look cool. Either way, it’s a watch that’s got somethin’ special about it.
So there ya have it. My two cents on that alien wrist watch. It ain’t much, but it’s honest. Just like me.
