Okay, so I was scrolling online the other day, you know, just killing time. And then, bam! I saw this jewelry. It was different, not like the usual stuff you see everywhere. Had this really cool, kinda artsy, maybe a bit vintage feel. Turns out, it was by this designer, Jenny Walton.

I got pretty interested, I have to say. Her pieces, they just stood out. Lots of unique beads, interesting combinations, and a style that felt really personal. It wasn’t super flashy, but it had character. I found myself looking at more and more of her designs.
Getting Inspired (or so I thought!)
So, I’m looking at all this cool stuff, and a little voice in my head goes, “Hey, maybe I could try making something with that kind of vibe?” I used to mess around with beads and stuff when I was younger, so I figured, why not give it a shot? It’s not like I was trying to rip off her designs, more like just get inspired by the general feeling, you know? The handcrafted, unique look.
First thing I did was dig out my old craft box. Man, what a mess! A total disaster zone. But I found some old beads, a few interesting charms I’d forgotten about, and some basic jewelry wire and pliers.
- Old glass beads from who-knows-where.
- Some metal bits that looked promising.
- A couple of lonely earrings that could be repurposed.
The Actual “Making” Part
Alright, so I spread everything out on the table. I had this vague idea of a necklace, maybe a bracelet. I started picking out beads, trying to see what looked good together. This is where things got a bit tricky. What looks amazing in a professional photo is, uh, harder to achieve when you’re just winging it.
I spent a good hour, maybe more, just arranging and rearranging beads. Trying to get the colors right, the balance. My fingers got sore from fiddling with the tiny loops on the wire. I dropped beads. Many, many beads. My cat thought it was a new game, which didn’t help.

I tried to make a small pendant first, combining a couple of interesting beads with a small metal charm. It looked… okay. Kinda homemade, which I guess was the point, but also a bit clunky. Not quite the effortless chic I was seeing in those pictures. Ha!
What I Ended Up With
After a couple of hours, I had a couple of pieces. One slightly lopsided bracelet and a necklace that was, well, let’s just say it has “character.” It’s definitely not Jenny Walton! Not even close. But, you know what? It was actually pretty fun to just sit and create something with my hands.
It made me appreciate the skill and eye that goes into designing and making really beautiful, unique jewelry even more. It’s not just about stringing some beads together. There’s a real art to it, a vision.
So, my own creations? They’re probably not going to win any awards. But I did rediscover an old hobby, and it was a nice way to spend an afternoon. And hey, at least I tried, right? Maybe I’ll get better with practice. Or maybe I’ll just stick to admiring the work of pros like her from afar. Either way, it was a good little experiment.
