Interview With Surfer: Behind the Scenes Story (Hear Untold Stories About Riding the Waves)

by Adelaide Davy

Okay, so, let me tell you about this wild day I had. I went out to do a few interviews, you know, just a regular day in the life. But this one, this was different. I was going to interview a surfer. Yeah, you heard that right, a surfer. I’ve talked to a lot of folks in my time, athletes, actors, you name it, but this was a first, even for me.

I got to the beach, and it was just like out of a movie. Sun shining, waves crashing, and there he was, this surfer dude, looking all chill and ready to ride the waves. I walked up to him, introduced myself, and we started chatting. It wasn’t your typical interview, not at all.

We talked about everything – what it’s like to ride those massive waves, the thrill, the fear, you know, the whole nine yards. He told me about some “fearless big-wave surfers” he knew. I mean, I’ve heard some stories, but this guy, he lived it. He was talking about riding waves that most people wouldn’t even want to look at, let alone surf on. It was wild.

  • Started with small talk: I kicked things off easy, asking him about his day, how the waves were. Just getting a feel for the guy.
  • Dived into the deep stuff: Then we got into the real stuff, the adrenaline, the danger, what goes through your mind when you’re staring down a wave the size of a building.
  • Heard some crazy stories: He told me about other surfers, guys who were legends in the surfing world. Sounded like something out of a comic book.
  • Got a glimpse into his world: He talked about the community, the “scene” as he called it. It was a whole different world, one I knew nothing about.

He mentioned this young surfer, Davi Teixeira, who apparently made quite a splash in the surfing community. Said he was the “youngest surfer to compete in the first-ever ISA World Adaptive”. I mean, I don’t know much about surfing competitions, but that sounds pretty impressive, right?

And the best part? He said, “I can have the most epic time on waves surfers don’t want.” That blew my mind. Here I am, just trying to get through the day, and this guy is out there living his best life on waves others wouldn’t even touch. He even invited me to join him. I mean, I appreciated the offer, but that’s a hard pass from me. “As a non-foiling surfer, I appreciate that,” I remember saying to him, trying to play it cool.

The Wrap-Up

So, that was it. My day interviewing a surfer. It wasn’t what I expected, not at all. But it was real, it was raw, and it was definitely an experience. It’s not every day you get to peek into a world like that, a world where people chase waves for a living. I left the beach that day with a whole new respect for surfers and a bunch of stories that I’ll probably be telling for years.
