My Go at Body Makeup for Arms

Alright, let’s talk about something I tried recently – putting makeup on my arms. Sounds a bit odd maybe, but I had this event coming up, wearing a sleeveless top, and honestly, my arms just weren’t looking their best. A bit uneven, you know? Some old sun spots, a few little marks here and there. I figured, why not give this body makeup thing a shot?

So, the first step was prepping the canvas, as they say. I didn’t do anything too crazy. Just washed my arms really well in the shower, used my regular body wash. I did use a washcloth to give them a gentle scrub, just to make sure the skin was smooth. After drying off, I slapped on some basic, unscented lotion. Important bit here: I let that lotion sink in completely. Probably waited a good 10-15 minutes. Didn’t want the makeup sliding around on greasy skin.

Next up was actually putting the stuff on. I had picked up a tube of body foundation type stuff – nothing fancy, just something that looked like it might match my skin tone reasonably well. I started small.

  • Squeezed a little bit onto the back of my hand.
  • Then, I used my fingers initially, just dabbing it onto my forearm.
  • I quickly realized fingers alone were going to leave streaks. So, I grabbed one of those makeup sponge things – a damp one.
  • Started bouncing and blending the makeup all over my forearm with the sponge. That worked much better for an even finish.
  • Worked in sections – forearm, then upper arm. Added more product as needed, trying not to go too heavy.
  • The elbows were tricky. They tend to grab more product and look darker. I used whatever was left on the sponge and blended really carefully there, kind of sheering it out. Same for the wrists.

I did one arm completely, then compared it to the other. It definitely looked smoother and more even-toned. Not like fake, just… better. So I did the other arm the same way.

After I was done applying, I just stood around in my robe for a bit, letting it dry. Maybe another 10 minutes? I didn’t want it getting all over my clothes immediately. I lightly patted my arms with my hands to check – felt dry to the touch. I decided against using any powder, just wanted to see how the product itself held up.

Getting dressed required a bit of care, especially pulling the top over my head. But it went okay. Throughout the event, I tried not to lean my arms heavily on things. Did I get some transfer? Yeah, a tiny bit on the inside cuff of my top, but honestly, not bad at all. My arms looked good in photos, which was the main goal!

Taking it off was simple enough. Just used my regular soap and a washcloth in the shower that night, gave them a good scrub, and it all came off.

So, that was my experience. It took a bit of time and patience, especially the blending part, but it worked for what I wanted. Definitely something I’d do again for a special occasion if I’m feeling self-conscious about my arms.
