Alright folks, today I gotta share this nightmare I had with my Curry 12s. Totally wrecked ’em last Tuesday when I spilled mad yellow curry all over the left toe during lunch. Like, bright neon splatter everywhere. Panicked hard – these weren’t cheap kicks!
My Dumb First Moves
Grabbed paper towels right away and just rubbed like crazy. Big mistake. Only pushed the stain deeper into the mesh. Then tried water with hand soap – made this weird greasy halo around the stain. Looked worse than before.
Actual Fix That Worked
Finally Googled proper methods and tested this combo:
- Brushed off dried gunk with soft toothbrush
- Mixed 1 teaspoon baking soda + 2 teaspoons white vinegar in bowl
- Dabbed (not rubbed!) with old toothbrush for 5 minutes
- Let foam sit 10 mins watching NBA highlights
- Rinsed under cold tap scrubbing gently with fingers
- Stuffed with newspaper to hold shape while drying
Left ’em near window overnight. Next morning? Zero stain traces. Couldn’t believe it. Even the mesh smelled fresh instead of like yesterday’s tikka masala.
Stupid Things I Learned
Never scrub fresh stains – always dab first. Vinegar smells nasty but works magic. Newspaper trick saved the shoe shape – almost forgot that part. Took me two hours total but saved $150 on replacements.
Now I keep baking soda/vinegar mix in my closet. Curry emergencies happen, people. Hope this saves someone else’s shoes!
