Alright, so I finally got around to tackling this little project I’ve been meaning to do for ages: a Louis Vuitton inspired watch case. Here’s the breakdown of how it all went down.

Sourcing the Materials:
- First things first, I needed something that resembled the classic LV monogram canvas. Couldn’t find the real deal without selling a kidney, so I went with a decent quality faux leather. Found some online that had that similar brown and tan vibe.
- Next, I grabbed some sturdy cardboard for the structure. Nothing fancy, just the stuff you get from old shipping boxes. Gotta be resourceful, right?
- I also picked up some felt lining for the inside to keep my watches from getting scratched. A nice dark brown felt seemed classy enough.
- Don’t forget the hardware! Snapped up some small hinges and a clasp to keep the case closed. Nothing too flashy, just functional.
Building the Frame:
- Okay, so I started by measuring my watches to figure out the dimensions of the case. Added a little extra room so they wouldn’t be crammed in there.
- Then, I cut out the cardboard pieces for the base, sides, top, and dividers. Basically, a simple rectangular box shape.
- Glued all the pieces together using some strong adhesive. Made sure everything was square and let it dry completely. Patience is key here!
Wrapping it Up:
- This was probably the most tedious part. I carefully cut the faux leather to size, leaving some extra around the edges for wrapping.
- Applied glue to the cardboard frame, a section at a time, and then stretched the faux leather over it, making sure to smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles.
- The corners were tricky! I had to carefully fold and glue them to get a clean, finished look. Lots of trimming and adjusting involved.
Adding the Interior:
- Once the exterior was done, I cut the felt lining to fit the inside of the case.
- Glued the felt to the base, sides, and top. This made it nice and soft for the watches.
- For the dividers, I wrapped cardboard strips in felt and glued them in place to create individual compartments.
Finishing Touches:

- Finally, I attached the hinges to the back of the case and the lid.
- Screwed on the clasp to keep the case securely closed.
- Gave the whole thing a good once-over, trimming any loose threads and making sure everything was neat and tidy.
The Result:
Not gonna lie, it’s not perfect. You can definitely tell it’s a DIY job, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It looks vaguely like a Louis Vuitton watch case, which was the goal. More importantly, it keeps my watches safe and organized. Plus, it was way cheaper than buying a real one!
If you’re thinking about trying something similar, go for it! It’s a fun project and you can customize it to your own taste. Just be prepared to put in some time and effort. And don’t be afraid to make mistakes – that’s how you learn!
