My Little Wall Project
So, I was staring at this one wall in my room the other day. You know how it is, just a plain, boring wall. And I thought, it needs something. I wasn’t about to repaint the whole room, too much fuss for me right now. Then, this idea popped into my head – stickers! But not just any stickers, I wanted something with a bit of a fancy feel, you know? Louis Vuitton inspired, maybe.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to plaster real LV bags on my wall, ha! I just liked the iconic patterns. So, I did a bit of searching around. Found some vinyl decals online that looked pretty decent. They weren’t official, of course, just playing on the style. I went ahead and ordered a set, a mix of the classic monogram and some Damier Ebene looking ones. Waited for them to arrive, which felt like ages, as these things always do when you’re excited about a little project.
Getting Started
When they finally showed up, I was pretty eager to get going. First thing I did, and this is important, folks, I cleaned that wall. Like, really cleaned it. I grabbed a cloth, got it a bit damp with some mild soap and water, and wiped the whole area down. Then I went over it with a dry, clean cloth to make sure it was totally dry and free of any lint. You don’t want any dust or grease messing with the stickiness. I had to let it dry completely, which tested my patience, I almost rushed it.
Then came the planning. I didn’t want to just slap them on randomly. That would look a mess. I sort of laid them out on the floor first, trying different arrangements. I moved them around a bit, squinted from different angles, stepped back. You know, the whole artist-at-work routine, even if it’s just stickers. I decided on a scattered but somewhat balanced look. I didn’t want it too symmetrical, but I didn’t want it to look like a total accident either.
The Sticking Point

Alright, the actual application. This was the part I was both looking forward to and a bit nervous about. These things usually come with a backing paper and a transfer tape on top. I started with a smaller, less complex one, just to get the hang of it. Smart move, I think. I carefully peeled off the backing paper, making sure the sticker stayed stuck to the clear transfer tape. This can be a bit tricky if you go too fast.
Then, I positioned it on the wall where I’d mentally marked it. Once I was happy with the spot, I started smoothing it down, really good, from the center outwards. I used an old plastic card, like a store loyalty card, wrapped in a soft t-shirt scrap, to rub over the transfer tape. This helps the sticker adhere properly and pushes out any air bubbles. That’s a little trick I learned a while back doing other decal stuff.
Slowly, and I mean slowly, I peeled off the transfer tape. You gotta pull it back at a sharp angle, almost flat against the wall. If a bit of the sticker tried to come up with the tape, I just stopped, pressed that part back down onto the wall, rubbed it some more, and then continued peeling the transfer tape. It wasn’t super difficult, but it did take a bit of care and patience. Some of the more intricate patterns were a little fiddly, I won’t lie. Had to be extra gentle with those.
- Cleaned the wall thoroughly with soap and water, then dried it.
- Planned the layout on the floor first to get a visual.
- Used a plastic card wrapped in cloth to smooth down the stickers firmly.
- Peeled the transfer tape off very slowly and at a sharp angle.
The Big Reveal (to Myself!)
After what felt like a good hour or two, concentrating pretty hard, I was finally done. I stepped back to take a proper look. And you know what? It actually looked pretty cool! It definitely transformed that boring wall from drab to a bit more fab. It’s not like having a real LV installation in the room, obviously, but it adds a certain flair, a bit of a talking point, and just a touch of that luxe vibe I was after. It’s just a bit of fun, really, and a creative outlet.
For what it cost and the effort involved, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. It’s not for everyone, I get that, and some might think it’s tacky, but it made my space feel a bit more me. And that’s what matters, right? It’s amazing what a few well-placed stickers can do. Sometimes it’s these little DIY projects that bring the most satisfaction, just seeing something you did yourself come together.
