Okay, so I’ve been seeing these hair straightener combs all over my social media, and I finally caved and bought one. I’ve got naturally wavy, kinda frizzy hair, and I’m always looking for ways to tame it without spending hours with a flat iron. So, I figured, why not give this thing a shot?

My Experiment Begins
First things first, I washed and conditioned my hair like usual. Then, I let it air dry most of the way, because I read somewhere that it works best on damp, not soaking wet, hair. While it was drying, I took the straightener comb out of the box. Looks pretty simple, just like a big, heated brush.
I plugged it in, and there were a few different heat settings. Since my hair is kind of thick, I went for a medium-high setting. I waited for it to heat up, which didn’t take too long, maybe a couple of minutes.
The Actual Straightening
Now for the moment of truth. I sectioned off a small chunk of my hair, just like I would with a regular straightener. Then, I slowly brushed the comb through it, starting from the roots. I could feel the heat, but it wasn’t burning my scalp or anything, which was a good sign.
- First pass: It definitely straightened it some, but not completely.
- Second pass: Okay, now we’re talking! My hair was looking much smoother and straighter.
- Third pass: Just to be sure, I went over it one more time, and it was pretty much perfectly straight.
I continued this process, section by section, all over my head. It was way faster than using a flat iron, I’ll give it that. And it felt less damaging, too. My hair didn’t feel fried or crispy afterwards, it actually felt pretty soft.
Final Touches
Once I was done with all the sections, I looked in the mirror. My hair was definitely straighter, and it had a nice, natural-looking volume to it. It wasn’t stick-straight like it gets with a flat iron, which I actually liked. There was still some body to it.
Then I applied a tiny amount of anti-frizz serum.
The Result
My hair stayed straight for most of the day, even with a bit of humidity. I wouldn’t say it’s a miracle worker, but it’s definitely a good option for days when I want straighter hair without the hassle of a flat iron. It’s quicker, easier, and seems less damaging. Overall, I’m pretty happy with it!
