Hairdressers Back Problems? Try These Simple Home Remedies

by Marvin Connie

OK, folks, let’s talk about something that’s been on my mind lately – my back. As a hairdresser, I’m on my feet all day, leaning over, twisting, turning, you name it. And let me tell you, it takes a toll. I started noticing some serious aches and pains, and I knew I had to do something about it.

First thing I did? I started paying more attention to how I was standing and moving. I was slumping a lot, which was probably making things worse. So I’m now trying to stand up straighter, shoulders back, like my mom always told me.

    Here’s what I did:

  • Walked around. I made an effort to move around more. We are always cutting hair, so I tried to take little breaks. This helped a little.
  • Got some new shoes. I got some new shoes, ones with really good arch support, so that I wouldn’t get tired easily.
  • Started stretching. I found some simple stretches online that are specifically for hairdressers and I’ve been trying to do them between clients.
  • Did some simple exercises. In the evenings I do some simple exercises. Just light stuff, you know, not going crazy at the gym or anything.

It’s not a magic cure, but I can honestly say I’m feeling a bit better. My back isn’t as tight at the end of the day. I realized that taking care of my body is just as important as taking care of my clients’ hair. So, to all my fellow hairdressers out there, take care of yourselves! Your backs will thank you.

It’s a journey, and I’m still figuring things out, but I just wanted to share my experience. Maybe it’ll help someone else who’s feeling the same way. If you got any tips or tricks, feel free to share them! We’re all in this together.
