Alright, so my hair was getting kinda shaggy again. You know how it goes. Looked in the mirror the other day and thought, man, need a change up for 2024. Been seeing a lot of guys with these really sharp fades, way up high on the sides. Decided, yeah, that’s the move.

Didn’t just wanna walk in blind though. Did a quick search, saw what folks were calling the ‘high fade 2024’. Basically, super short, almost down to the skin, way up near the crown. Looked clean. Looked sharp. Decided that was the plan.
Getting it Done
Went down to my usual spot. Place isn’t fancy, but the guy, Tony, knows his stuff. Sat down in the chair. Tony asks, “The usual?”
“Nah,” I said, “Switching it up today. Wanna try one of those high fades. Take it right down to the skin high up, blend it sharp.”
He kinda nodded, looked at my hair for a sec. Grabbed the clippers. Started buzzing away. That first pass with no guard, always feels weirdly cold on the scalp, right?
He worked his way up. You could really see the line forming, much higher than I usually get it. Took his time with the blending. Clipper over comb, then different guards. Zap zap zap. Little bit of scissor work on top, just to tidy it up but keep some length to style.

- Started with the zero guard low down.
- Worked up through the guards, blending each section.
- Made sure that line was really high, like I asked.
- Cleaned up the edges with the trimmer. Sharp lines.
The Finish
He spun the chair around. Checked it out in the mirror. Woah. Definitely high! Big contrast between the skin fade and the length on top. Felt super clean though. Like, aerodynamic, haha.
Paid the man, walked outside. Felt the breeze on parts of my head that haven’t felt it in a while. It’s a bit extreme maybe, compared to my old cuts, but I dig it. Feels fresh for the year. We’ll see how it grows out, but right now? Yeah, solid choice. Happy I went for it.
