Okay, so I got this idea to make a Salvador Dali-inspired wristwatch, you know, like those melting clocks in his paintings? I thought it would be a cool project, something different.

Getting Started
First, I doodled some designs. I mean, I’m no artist, but I tried to capture that melty, surreal look. It was harder than I thought! I looked at a bunch of Dali paintings online to get the vibe right.
Finding the Parts
Next, I needed a watch. I found a cheap, basic one at a local store. The simpler, the better, I figured. Then came the tricky part – making the “melting” case.
- I tried using polymer clay at first.
- I baked it and.
- It looked okay-ish when I, but it was too bulky and didn’t really have that smooth, droopy look I wanted.
Experimenting (and Failing)
Then, I remembered seeing someone use resin for crafts. I thought, “Maybe that’s the way to go!” I got some clear resin and some molds, the kind you use for jewelry. This was a whole new world for me.
My first few attempts were…well, let’s just say they weren’t pretty. The resin didn’t set right, or it had bubbles, or it just looked like a blob. I almost gave up a few times, to be honest.
Finally, Some Progress!
But I kept trying. I watched some online tutorials (thank goodness for those!), and I finally figured out a few tricks. I learned to pour the resin slowly, use a lighter to pop the bubbles, and be patient (which is not my strong suit).

Putting It All Together
Once I had a decent-looking resin case, I carefully removed the watch movement from the original watch and fitted it into the new case. I added some paint to the resin to give it that antique-ish, gold-ish color, like in Dali’s paintings. I used tiny brushes and took my time to make sure.
The Finished Product (Almost)
It’s not perfect, not by a long shot. It’s a bit rough around the edges, and the paint job could be better. But hey, it’s my own handmade Dali-esque watch! It actually tells time, and it definitely gets some curious looks. Now all I need is a cool strap,And it is ok!
