George Town 5 best places to eat! A food lovers guide to the best restaurants and street food stalls in town!

Today, I want to talk about my trip to George Town. It was a blast, seriously. We decided to stay right in the heart of George Town because, you know, that’s where all the action is. We wanted to create our own little food adventure, hitting up as many restaurants and street food stalls as possible.

First off, we started with some char koay teow. I mean, when in Penang, right? This dish is like the poster child for Penang food. There were so many stalls around, it was almost overwhelming. We just picked one that looked busy – that’s usually a good sign, isn’t it?

Then, we stumbled upon this place called Zen Xin. It’s a vegetarian spot, which was a nice change of pace. Not that many veggie places around, so this was a cool find. We had some really good dishes there.

  • Next up, we hit up a street stall for some oh chien, which is basically a Chinese-style oyster omelet.
  • And you can’t forget about nasi lemak. We went to Ali Nasi Lemak at the Sri Weld Food Court. They make it fresh right in front of you, and it’s super cheap – like 1.80. Can’t beat that!

We also tried some fancy stuff, like this glorious caramelised belly pork and some delectable fish with black nuts. I’m not even sure where we found these, but they were amazing. And we just kept walking around, eating everything in sight.

Oh, and we stayed near the Blue Mansion. It’s a pretty famous building, and it’s right next to where we were staying. Super convenient. We just wandered around, exploring every nook and cranny.

Honestly, George Town is a foodie’s paradise. I’m already thinking about going back. So many things to eat, so little time!
