Okay, here’s my experience about how to do eye makeup with a golden dress:

So, I had this golden dress that I was dying to wear. But I just couldn’t figure out what kind of eye makeup would look good with it. I mean, gold is such a bold color, you know? I didn’t want to overdo it, but I also didn’t want my eyes to get lost. You feel me?
I started messing around with some different eyeshadows. First, I tried a smoky eye, but it just looked too heavy with the dress. Then, I tried a neutral look, but it was too boring. Nothing seemed to work.
Then, I remembered seeing Jennifer Lopez on the red carpet once, and she was wearing this gorgeous golden dress with a really simple but stunning eye look. I dug up some pictures of her from that event and started to get some ideas.
I decided to go for a warm-toned brown eyeshadow look. I picked up a palette that had a few different shades of brown, from light to dark. And because, I mean why not, I also grabbed a gold shimmer shadow, just to add a little something extra.
What I Did:
- I started by applying a light brown shade all over my eyelids as a base. Just to even things out.
- Then, I took a slightly darker brown and blended it into my crease to add some definition. Nothing too crazy.
- Next, I used an even darker brown on the outer corners of my eyes to create a bit of a V-shape. This helps to kind of lift the eyes, you know?
- After that, I took that gold shimmer shadow and patted it onto the center of my eyelids. Just a touch, to make them pop.
- Finally, I finished it off with some black eyeliner and mascara. I wanted to keep the focus on the eyeshadow, so I kept the liner pretty thin.
And that’s it! It turned out way better than I expected. The brown eyeshadow really complemented the gold dress, and the shimmer added just the right amount of sparkle. I felt like a million bucks, seriously. I’m definitely going to rock this look again!
